Brought my 2019 BMW Z4 to a BMW dealership in the area for an inspection. Before, my AC worked intermittently but was mostly fine. After their inspection, the dealership mentioned it was that the mixing flap drive blend door was damaged and they are recommending replacement of the heaterbox and motor for it. something around 5K... Last time in service was 6 months ago and took it 3-2 months ago for a check on the engine... the dealership sent me a video of the piece fully broken... wonder how did it broke and in none of the last 2 times i went to the delaership service didn't detect this... I've been doing some research and this is not a piece that just breaks appart as it is enclosed and cover on under the drivers side...

anyone has to deal with something like this...?

HELP :(

Hey, I totally understand your frustration – 5K for a heater box and motor replacement is a hard pill to swallow, especially when it wasn’t flagged in previous services. I've seen similar issues reported on Z4s, and while it's not common for the mixing flap drive blend door to just break apart out of nowhere, sometimes internal wear or even a manufacturing flaw can lead to premature failure. It might be worth getting a second opinion from an independent BMW specialist, just to confirm the diagnosis and see if there are any repair options that could be less costly than a full replacement. While it’s definitely annoying when something like this pops up, especially after a recent service, you might also want to ask the dealership to explain what led to the failure (for instance, if there’s any evidence of abnormal wear or damage from debris, etc.). It could be a case of a part that had been gradually failing and only reached a tipping point recently. Hang in there, and I hope you can find a more affordable solution or at least get some clarity on the matter! :)

Hey [ref]nat56[/ref], , thanks for the insight. I was just wondering... is it something that could happen to a 2019 model with only 50K miles?
I just talked again with the dealership as I always sent the car to the BMW dealership i got it from, and they said that it was just an internal failure, that it happens because of cold/hot air regulation or something like that... what really concerns me is that, if that's the case wear and tear doesn't just abruptly could just split that connection. (or at least that's why i would think.)
