Hi Guys

Just wonderd if you could impart some of your collective wisdom and tell the best thing for cleaning the dash and trim in my z.

Also I have 108s and wonderd if it is safe to use 'wonder wheels' on them for cleaning?

cheers

Tony

Hi,

I used to use all sorts of stuff for the interior trim, but found the best thing is keep it simple. Damp Cloth (Microfibre) on the plastic and even the leather once week keeps it looking like new.

I would only use Wonder wheels on badly marked wheels as its very searching. If you do use it put it on each wheel go back around and give another brush around then wash striaght off.

Also apply some wax as the wheels will be un protected.

Cheers

Hi Paul

I have some wax for the wheels but was wanting to give the wheels a good initial clean with wonder wheels but was worried about taking the laquer off (well I assume its some sort of laquer on the inner part of the wheel) Anyway thanks for the advice.

Hi,

I was suggesting applying the wax after using the wonder wheels. If you use wax now i guess your wheels are nice enough not to need to use the wonder wheels anyway.

If it was me i would use soap and water only.

Good luck.

The OC folks on the MINI Cooper forum, really OC, say that Wheel Wax helps enought that you can often just hose the wheels off to get them clean. http://www.wheelwax.com/

You can get a cockpit spray from BMW part no 83 12 0 004 069 always worked for me.
x2 on the BMW spray used with a microfiber cloth. If you have scuff marks on the plastic Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works really well. I'm not sure what it's called in the UK.

I use this stuff and its brilliant. Doesn't leave your dash looking shiney. BMW interior is meant to be matt so this is ideal. Smell nice too. :)

I use Baking Soda and soap on my wheels now, and Maguire's on my leather, Armorall for plastic/rubber on my basketball interior. I love love love Maguire's - it smells terrific and leaves my leather supple and soft with out feeling greasy and slippery. Don't need to be slung all over the car while taking wild curves!, the seats kind of suck for that as it is (unless of course you're an elite member of the ///M club  ).
If you have a convertible, don't forget to clean and seal your top :)

I've found that a lot of professional detailers are running from Armorall. It doesn't do for dashes what it is supposed to do. More detailers are leaning towards water based products for interior vinyls. You might want to check out Lexol Vinylex Protectant or a product like Nero from Detailers Paradise. I wrote Armorall off years ago.

rec'Z: I do like Lexol too. I use the Armorall for PLASTIC/ etc. I know what you mean about the general/basic Armorall and concur. What ovrkll said is a great idea, I've heard lots of good things about 303. I'll try anything once. Plus, my Z isn't used alot during peak sunlight hours.
That basketball interior seems very hearty - a good thing for me

X3 on Poorboys - dash on my wife's X3 look brand new and not glossy at all. No overwhelming perfume like odor either.
