Cloned.

The wife's rarely used MC is on a road trip, an unusual ocurrance but it generally gets some exercise every couple of weeks.

So on the M6 the police stop her, apparently the car has been involved in suspisious activity in London. Given the mileage between MOTs is barely enough to get from here to London and back, this seems unlikely.

I suspect an old For Sale ad from on here might have been the source of the reg no for the cloners, as I don't think there are pics of it elsewhere and unlikely for it to be seen out and about.

The Police put a sticker on it which I presume they now only look for the 'unstickered' version, although I now wonder if the cloners also have access to the stickers :)

Hey ho.

Londinium is such a way Paul. I believe it is East.

Free sticker can't be all bad. :)

Seeing at the Police couldn't catch a cold without ANPR and CCTV these days, it could well be a mistake on the 'computer'.

I know someone who had their van impounded for weeks by the rozzers and sent for forensic testing due to the 'computer' saying it had been used for 'serious crimes'. Turned out the database was wrong, so he got an apology and a very well cleaned van. :D

Even in the old days, the Police made lots of mistakes. My uncle and family had a 'dawn raid' on their house in the '80s. The rozzers smashed their front door down and went in mob-handed. Turned out it was the right address but wrong town! It was before the days of compo for anything, so they got a new front door and a 'sorry about that'.

The fact that the reg number has appeared on the internet is a good defence - she can show its been published and could well have been cloned - as long as she can show she was elsewhere when the offence occurred of course. That's why I never blank mine out when i post photos of my car.

Londinium is now South for me John - escaped Devon to Shropshire in between lockdowns but can't work out how/if I can change my username
:)

I figured the chances of an Imola Red MC being cloned were pretty slim so nothing to worry about. I do wonder what the cloned plate is on as it should be pretty obvious.

Given that only 57 Imola Red MCs seem to have been registered in the UK I'd be amazed if the cloned plate was being used on one of the other 56!

A typo by someone seems more likely.

Where abouts in Shropshire are you as there was a red MC at the Wem car show last year ?

Just South of Shrewsbury.

I have been to Wem, not sure if it was last year or the year before but I remember it was baking hot.

Not far away then I am in Whixall area .

1997 VFR750 project. 95% complete. Only 30% left to do.

Very interested in this being an ex motorcyclist

I'm in Bayston Hill. We looked at further north (Prees/Wem) but found it a bit too rural as we weren't planning on moving again until we were about 80. Rather like Wem, BH is one big happy family ;)

The VFR has sat untouched for over a year - we started a 14-16 week building project just before Xmas on a 230 year old house. There were some unforseen issues.

There is still a bit of plastering and some doors to be fitted and last week we went upstairs in the dark without a torch for the first time this year. Gratuitous photo of the build in 'progress'
