Cracked front bumper plastic

I'm not sure what the piece is called, but some time driving to the store today (with only 400 miles on the car), a front piece cracked in two. Not sure if this is a common problem but the piece must have been flawed or possibly fastened too tightly and car flex broke it.

Image not working for me.

That’s a real bummer, you must be feeling bad after only 400 miles. I’ve not heard of a similar experience.

Be ready for your BMW dealer to say a stone chip caused it when you take it in.

I fixed the image. That's no stone chip :-) The entire piece broke in two.

I think dr_John is saying that your dealership won’t take any responsibility for it. Even with a mere 400 miles on the clock.
What bad luck and how annoying.

Yes, and I really didn’t mean to argue. But I think there is. 50/50 chance they will take responsibility. The dealer doesn’t eat the cost, BMW does. I actually had something like this happen to some plastic on a seat in my Audi TT, and Audi picked up the tab.

I was hoping this happened to others and thus pointed out a flaw. But it seems I’m an isolated case.

OK, I am now officially embarrassed. What I thought was a cracked bumper piece was actually a cover for the tow hook that had come loose.

Well at least you’re not going to have to fight with BMW for a replacement

Also better discovering that yourself than at the dealers

OK good result!

All’s well that ends well :)

I’m still embarrassed! My only excuse is that the first person to notice was a car salesman asking why it was broken. I compared it to the other side (which is a single piece), and went OMG!

Never trust a Chevrolet salesman :headbang:
