Do I recommission my M Sport suspension?

When my car was new it had M Sport suspension delete as an option back in 2011. My car is a 23i M Sport Highline.

There is nothing wrong with it but as it has covered 52K I thought the shocks could do with a refresh as they are also 14 years old.

Now I looked on Real OEM and the springs are no longer listed. So I was thinking of going down the Suplex M Sport springs route with Bilstein B8 shocks and new top mounts. £711 form Autodoc

Or do I just replace the shocks like for like (Sachs) and stick with a softer ride for around £350 plus new top mounts form Autodoc?

Anyone else done this or suggest an alternative as close to original as possible? I don't want coilovers.

New shocks won’t hurt..but..if you spend £350 and it’s not the revelation you’d hope for… 😢

But do I go to M Sport stiffness or stay stock? Currently have no issues but sometimes you don't know how bad something is until it's renewed.

How bad or good is the M Sport over standard? I think that is my real question.

I think it depends on your wheels and tyres too. 18/19 normal or rft.
You should get a slight drop in ride height too I guess so it may look a bit better.

Your current shocks and struts will be knackered by now so whatever you do will transform the car. Msport is about 15mm lower than standard as well.

I’ve ridden now in several other E89s as well as my two…unless you’re tracking it or really hooning the stock ride height is nice..you could use B6s and stock springs for the best of all worlds

I went from SE suspension to B8's paired with Eibach pro springs, and I'd say the ride quality improved. My SE suspension was probably shot anyway.

New Msport will feel like you are floating on a magic carpet compared to knackered standard springs and struts. Even my Mrs noticed the improvement when I did mine.

The state of the roads round Whitchurch area I wouldn`t go M sport

MSport on E85/E86 is very different to E89 MSport..the E89 MSport is much plusher

The B12 kit works wonders on the E89, much better ride than on the E85, much better handling than standard Msport, lower ride height but sensible not silly.

I would say that it’s the best £ for £ upgrade on an E89

I need to be careful as I have 437M wheels which are 10J and 9J. Currently no rubbing.

I would only want standard M Sport ride height unless someone can tell me the B12 kit will be fine.

Also what top mounts are recommended? Febi or lemforder?

Suplex MSport springs best choice or OE versions..Lemforder mount much better or if Meyle do a HD version

B12 lowers it a lot

Have a look a this thread from when I sold my E89 - this is on 19’s with the B12 kit fitted, it’s not ‘very low’ at all, had zero issues with rubbing.
