Hi All,
The metal fascia around the start/stop button and climate control knobs is coming away from the plastic beneath.
I noticed today that it had lifted and pulled away from the plastic panel as if not much is holding it on anymore.

Having it all springy and popping off annoys the hell out of me. The other side with the narrowing curve that points to the passenger became loose a few months ago. Just from normal driving, I didn't try to take it apart or anything.

Any suggestions?

Is it just glued on?
How do you fix it?

The trim is glued onto the structural backing ..if you take the main trim piece you can then glue / use clamps to reattach it.l
 
Early steering wheels have chrome trim.
One side is lifting, at first cut my finger, as sharp as razor blades.
 
With the steering wheel, I found the paddle shifters to shift down have razor sharp edges when the metal lifts, even got my finger caught on it once while driving.
I solved the problem rubbing some 400 grit wet & dry sandpaper on the edges.
 
I found the culprit.

I recently bought a phone mount that clips to the vents.
It was contacting the metal and pulling at it at various times. Very annoying that this has done damage.
I’ll have to take apart the dash and repair it.
 
Solved with small screws.
I removed the dash and used a punch to make a tiny dent and a 1.5mm drill bit to make some tiny holes on the edge. The tiny black screws are barely noticeable with the dash remounted on the car. Larger heads would prevent the dash from going back on.

I felt glue would be messy, probably make the plastic brittle and probably come apart with all the vibration.

I used heat melted glue initially ..it came apart after a while..I used expoxy next time plus using clamps to hold the plastic substrate and the top cosmetic layer tightly together …no issues.
