Hall sensor prices

I found the issue with my roof. The hall sensor in my boot isn't working. I checked prices online and was a bit surprised to see it costing between £80-£220. Its only a magnet with a wire on it.
The part number is 54377224679. Does anyone know if there is an alternative?

That’s the one. I thought I read that somewhere.
Thanks.

Hall sensor: £15 Part No. 54 34 7 190 735 bought directly from BMW (just pretend you have a 1 series convertible to get to checkout).
Connector pins: £2.50 Part No. 61131393723 I bought them from ebay but I'm sure you can get them from elsewhere.
Connector block: £3? Part No. 8373575-02 I personally reused the one that came off the old part, but one can be bought from aliexpress with a pretty long delivery time, however it means you can just do a straight swap when the part arrives.

After that you just need cut the wires to the correct length, strip the cable, crimp the connector pins to the cable, put the pins into the connector block, then put the part back into the car. It's fiddly, but I found it could be done in place without having to remove anything.

Done all that and still have the same problem. Could it be the ram that’s not doing its job?

What was the actual problem? Do you have any codes or description of what is or isn’t happening?

The roof goes down into the boot and then stops. It says roof movement impaired. Then you press the button again and it completes the cycle. Going back up it goes to about 6” from closing against the windscreen and stops. You press the button again, it completes the cycle. It has something to do with the front hall sensor on the ram on the right hand side of the boot. When I disconnect the front sensor, there is no change so it has to be that one. I’ve changed both but still have the same problem.

Check the wiring from the suspected sensor back to the module.
Yup. I’ll just have to follow the wires and see what I can see. I hope it isn’t the ram. I don’t want to be messing with hydrolics.
