How to remove glue from old plate and stick new plate

Since you guys have been so helpful I'll ask here first.

I have a private plate.

I got the old plates off fairly easily. Great.

But there's tonnes of old tape/partial tape on there
.the new stickers didn't hold it at all, albeit I'm sure the wet and cold isn't helping.

What's the best tape to use as this tape feels really crap. (Came with the plate). I found "tiger tape" online. Which sounds great. But has anyone got s recommendation?

And how to get the tape off the old bits? The person hasn't ever removed the old tape it's just been sticking more and more glue on

I tried with a Dyson hairdryer but that made very little impact. I was there for 10 minutes and the flue seems as strong as ever. Whatever that tape is wound be useful to know lol.

The black tape is strong the white tape does seem to often.

The back part is black on black so harder to see and also less bad. But the front has at least three tapes on it.

I've been mainly finding my fingers are best to catch and edge and get a peek back on its self but it's taking ages and I haven't even got the first inch complete yet.

You need a toffee wheel in a drill

Failing that, you can put a tyre valve in a drill, and it'll do the same job. I used they tyre valve method last week as I couldn't find my toffee wheel at the time.

For future use try WD40. Great for removing glue on household stuff. (Great for cleaning UVPC also)

I did use WD40 but there was so much of the stuff. I got loads off though. The best thing was the plastic scrapers I got they made a big difference. It was made way harder by the fact I was doing it at night in the rain too lol.
