Where can I find the list of independent garages, I need to find a good one to diagnose a VVT issue (see my P1050 & P1062 post). I'm considering getting it diagnosed by a garage rather than just throwing parts at it :)

I'm in the Camberley area
 
As flimper said, TWG Automotive in Camberley is definitely the place to go.

My BMWs haven't been anywhere else in the last 5 years - well other than for recall work!
 
They are so busy they can't fit the car in for a diagnostic until the end of January! This could spell the end of the zed :headbang:
 
He's a bit of a drive from you, but Adrian at Gilberts for BMW near Acton in west London is my go-to guy. He can usually fit people in within a week or so.
 
If really stuck, try giving Martyn Scott a call in Dartford just off the M25 - real back street shop, a little challenging to find, though has been racing M3’s for years, very knowledgable.

Used to take my Maldives Zed there & the MC went for an alignment in Sept.
 
It's a little further afield but BMS Surrey are very good and they are based in Leatherhead.

+1 Have been using them for a couple of years and cant fault their prices and service. They really know their stuff.

Yes, my sister took her Mini there once and was very pleased with them.

Or maybe try contacting Bowser134 on here - I think he's in Hook, Hampshire.
 
Thanks for the replies. I've managed to get it going again. I'm going to run it for a while and see if the ECS oils up again, if it does I'll change it.

Afraid a -1 from me, quoted price not adhered to (added another £600 "as it was difficult to get the bolts undone" ) and I actually doubt that the replaced complete handbrake would pass an MOT as it just doesn't hold the car. Does mean I have to go back again to get it sorted.

Wasn't too impressed with the overall customer service, and very, very expensive.

I used LB Automotive back in 2019, they charged £64 per hour then. I use RBM now based in Hook Hampshire. always do a great job for me.

If your in the North West Darren Wood is the one to use.

Based in Stockport. Used him for my M and my Mini Clubman JCW for the last 5 years. The place is always full of M and Alpina exotica always fills with confidence, work is good value and attention to detail is high.

Only negative is they are busy so worth booking in advance for servicing etc
