Micro-filter vs. Recirculating air filter

In my service book (a.k.a. Evidence of maintenance work) there are 4 filters listed:

  • Fuel filter - this one is clear. In our cars part of the fuel tank and not a regular service item.
  • Air cleaner element - this is what we commonly refer to as just the "air filter", right? OEM #13717582908

But these two I'm confused about:

  • Micro-filter
  • Recirculating air filter

One of those is the cabin air filter OEM#64319195194 - but which one? And more importantly: what the hell is the other one? :D

I should note, though, that the service book comes standardised (there are diesel parts in there as well), so perhaps one of those is not present in the E89?

(Attaching photo as well, maybe the pictograms will help.)

Probably air conditioner filter, behind the glove box

Edit: Re-read it, you identified the cabin air filter, no idea what the other one is

There’s only one cabin filter on E89s…it’s fitted under the glove box.

You can choose several different classes of filter to suit your perceived needs…simple, carbon absorbing, hepa etc.. :tumbleweed:

Depending on how you set the controls it’s either filtering fresh air coming into the cabin or filtering the re-circulating air..
