This was discussed a long time ago, but does anyone have any more info now, what it's going to look like, when it's due etc?

Last I heard it was massive, looked like SL500 sort of competitor.

It was first thought it was going to be the new z9 but there was another article out there that with some pics of it with the top down, and close up pics showed that the body panels put on to disguise the test car beefed it up considerably.

the actual car once stripped of the panels will be more like the size of the z4 although still a little bigger. so more likely it will be a z4/z5 rather than a z9.

It's getting better!

Interestingly it looks as though they've stuck the twin turbo engine in. Nice

I was reading in the Roundel (US BMW magazine) that it will become available in 2008 and it is definitely the replacement for the Z4 - nothing to do with the Z9. I didn't read anything about engine packages or any other particulars. However, I would think that the twin-turbo would be a good fit for it. Maybe a few years after release they'll do an ///M version with the new M3 engine in it.

2008 eh,

So I imagine Z4 production will end soon. Which probably means the current ///Ms will cease by the end of the year.

Then at least the deprecation won't be so big.

And it's nice to have a car few other people have.
I think I have the only Z4 M roadster example in my country (there are two M Coupe's as well though).

Honestly, I couldn't care less whether or not the value drops like a chick's panties on prom night. I bought mine because it's an awesome car.

I've had more compliments and comments from folks about this car in the past week than I ever had in my modded 330Cic and MINI Cooper S. I've also had a number of BMW drivers on the highway chase me down to stare at it and give me a thumbs up.

My opinion as well based upon discussions with the local dealer.

And how many miles have you done Mr Stix? Remember that "small" admission you made in Switzerland last year?

5 weeks - 4000 miles on mine ... so there

For the next 28k, do the following then .... move the gear from first gear to second ...

Some of the pics they've been releasing for possible future Z4 replacements have been kind of boring though. In particular this one from the 2000 Paris autoshow:

Wouldn't it be neat if our Z4s looked more modern than its replacement?

Surely that picture is pure PS BS? It's clearly just downright awful

(no offence meant to you, takedown8)
