Paddle Shifter Reprogramming?

I've been playing around with the paddle shifters on my Z4, and it is very annoying to me that BMW did not use the standard shift pattern setup for these (right > shift-up / left > shift-down) as are found on most other cars (including my daily driver). Instead, on both sides, it's pull to shift-up and PUSH (the little thumb-button pads) to shift down.

Is there any way to reprogram this to match standard shift patterns, or am I stuck with this wonky shift setup? My research so far has turned up no answers. Maybe people just don't use them much?

Pretty sure you can just swap two wires in the harness for the left shifter to reverse the action of it. You gain the McLaren style "up and down from one side" just without the lovely carbon rocker behind the wheel to cause it.

I'm sure I saw someone talking about doing it recently, but my searching powers are failing me. Might have been on Reddit. https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1931195#p1931195 shows the wiring diagram
