2004 66000 miles 3.0 6sp (this is my 3rd Z4 had an 04 and an 06)
I've only had this one a little while - the first 4000 miles had no issues the last 500 or so have random electrical issues - from searches and past comments it seems to be the GM5 module? is there a test or only replace and see?
twice I saw a dash board light pop on and off only briefly - but the 2nd time I saw it was the brake disk light - I think it happened more times but did not see the lights on...
the past week - it will pop on randomly but more often- at the same time the radio may but not always lose all volume (not presets or station) only the sound drops for a second.
car seems to run fine - no codes - engine does not die or miss
cruise control did disconnect a couple times at 80 mph plus - acted just as if it was cancelled but immediately worked when re set
clock blanked time twice - driver window will no longer auto up (I did see a thread about resetting that...) - it still auto downs
battery compartment is dry - I disconnected the battery - waited 5 minutes and reconnected it
same issue but now it is the ABS, another light and the traction light
key fob works on doors and top but not on trunk (now - it did work 2 days ago)
sometimes when stopping at light for a second or two - or when already stopped at light
it is not consistent does not seem to be repeatable
mostly at slow speeds but has also happened at 80 MPH
not sure of the battery age - seems fine but... can happen after driving 45 minutes or an hour with little accessories on
from the past threads people have pointed to the GM5 module behind the glove box - is there a test or just replace it and see?
any recommendations of where to get it?
