Evening all, I got a call from Rosemary (Mrs Ronk) to say Ron had had quite a bad fall.

He fell and hit his head, neck and top of his spine in the fall. At the moment he has very little movement in his arms or legs. They were considering surgery at that point but now are hoping it’s only severe bruising to his spinal cord rather than damage. He is likely to be getting transferred to a spinal unit in Newcastle for further assessment and treatment.

Ron called me himself this afternoon and asked me to let the Forum know the reason for his absence from here.

They were getting work done in the house and the builders left a length of skirting up the stairs. It was protruding at the top and Ron caught it with his good leg and fell.

I’ll keep everyone up to speed if/when I get any further information.

Thank you for that information Andy.
I have never met Ron but we have had some lengthy discussion through the Forum . I am originally from Durham and went to Durham University. Ron’s wife did her teacher training at one of the Durham colleges. Over the years he has kept me up to date about the changes in Durham and being of a similar age we have a lot in common. Please pass on my best wishes to him for a speedy recovery and hopefully he will soon be back on the Forum.
