Hey all, been a long time, hope all is well..
I still have my '03 3.0i, 50,400 miles and doing well..but lately having a steering 'low sound whirl' when turning during idle when it requires more work vs being constant going down the road..it does not effect the actual steering and there is no dash indicators that light up, but it seems to be getting worse and it's not going away..
Now I'm aware of the EPS issues of this model year but I don't have that issue, yet..my biggest concern is this is BMW's EPS system that was initiated during the '02 Z4's and they are not standing behind their misfortunes and making it right..I've heard estimates in the mid $3000 range to replace steering column's and in some cases it still hasn't fixed the problem..
If a recall is in the mix w/ the NHTSA investigating this, I surely hope it is followed through..

Back to my question, w/ those that had/have this issue, did you have this noise to begin w/?? Or what else do you think it could possibly be??
