CherryM on the forum has a 23i with the usual lack of techno goodies..
When I suggested spending several hundred pounds on a Android head unit I could ear his wallet sealing shut.. :tumbleweed:
Not to be deterred he lashed out £50 on a TEMU car play screen.
Today we fitted it to his E89.
Also moved him from an old 2017 Samsung Android to an old iPhone SE I had kicking around..
Previously he couldn't get his Android phone to talk to the unit.
However the iPhone burped into life pretty easily with this.
I have to say that I was blown away with the price/performance of this offering.
We used the 3.5mm aux out put into Mike's 3.5mm aux in in the centre armrest and played it through his basic 6 speaker system.
Tried a number of tracks and frankly the sound was pretty good.
Of course since its CarPlay you get that great 'Fischer Price' simplified user interface that's the same irrespective of which CarPlay in which car.
Some tidying up of cables required, the aftermarket brackcet Mike sourced clips into an airvent and looks pretty neat.
Bang per buck takes some beating.
Of course bluetooth to the phone etc ..
There's other stuff in there but with CarPlay its irrelevant..
So if you can't afford a B21 pan-galactic all singing super duper techno junky trip this could be for you!
Have to see how it holds up and in the sun etc..
Some of our pictures to follow..
