Tire Pressure Sensor recommendations

I am refurbishing the 108's on mt 2007 Z4 Roadster 3.0si. The TPS dash light was on and when I separated the wheel and tire, I found one of the TPS's cracked in half. Mystery solved. All of the sensors are BMW. The others look pretty rough and I figure it's time to replace them. I track the car and I like the added safety of a working TPS system.

The OEM parts are significantly more expensive than some aftermarket brands like Bosch and Huf.

Do the aftermarket parts I mentioned (or others) have a good reputation for reliability?

Most odd? E85 doesn’t use TPMS? Uses readings from the ABS sensors to measure rolling radius of each wheel.

You probably have a set of wheels from a later car that did have TPMS fitted.
On your car just press and hold the button in, the light will go yellow then turn off when you drive a little bit.

As has been said, E85 doesn't use TPMS sensors. It's in the manual; inflate and reset. Measured via the ABS system.

The "M" version used the ABS sensors as I understand it. I have the 3.0si model.

This shows the part.

They are all USA cars at the end of the day though?

I checked on various UK online parts companies and they all sell TPMS sensors for the OP’s car. I’ve also found several other online references to say the same thing - fitted on post 2007 cars.

You can tell by looking at them though as they are metal.

Of course a 2007 registered car could have been built six months earlier.

They were just built in the USA. They're not all USA cars. :tumbleweed:

I used RealOEM. TPMS shown for USA, not for EUR LHD with the same build date (01/2008).

If the OP actually enters his VIN into Realoem it will accurately show what it should have.

I agree that this car shouldn't have them yet nearly every online resource I've seen says it does. LLLparts says no by the way.

I think the problem is most of us on here are in the UK, and UK market E85 and 86s didn't have the sensors in the tyre valves. Over here even early E89s didn't have them, although later E89s did.

So you might have got a helpful response to your question about reliable sensor brands on the E89 section of the forum.

My car takes the sensors. That is not in question. I guess I picked the wrong forum to ask.
OK, no need to be funny about it. You asked and we all answered to the best of our knowledge.
To further that knowledge I would appreciate it if you are able to find out where the receiver is mounted and pass that on for future reference.

I don't know, it's a learning experience for all of us. I for one honestly thought my E85 did have TPMS, and now I know it doesn't.

Your car does have TPMS - all E85s have it because BMW sold them with run-flat tyres as standard so it was essential. But UK cars all used wheel speed sensors to monitor it.

Ah, yeah, sorry, I meant via sensors in the wheels. I should have elaborated that.

To keep my fellow pedants happy, the system on the E85 is actually described as a Run Flat Indicator.
At least, on UK models
