To Z4M Steering Wheel or Not to Z4m Steering Wheel? (Also, Worst Hamlet quoting)

So, my car has the standard steering wheel - because it was a 2003 pre-facelift 3.0i. Not even MFSW.

I recently purchased a MFSW steering wheel with the intention of getting it re-trimmed and adding MFSW functions of course. Then I came across a Z4M MFSW wheel ... I bought that too  so now I'm undecided on which wheel I should go for. The M wheel feels some what "softer" to the touch.

I won't be using the bottom M trim part though because I don't want M stickers anywhere (even if it IS an M part) when my car isn't an M

Having had an original 'sport' steering wheel, a re-trimmed Royals wheel and now an M sport wheel I believe you can't beat the latter. I would be going with the M sport wheel every time :driving:

 Photos will help us decide for you.

I'll take some pics tomorrow evening when I'm home again - although that being said they all pretty much look the same  They just "feel " different due to padding and whatever else it is that differentiates them

Is that a comfort "in your hand" kind of thing?

I do have these pics to hand that I was sent by the seller when I bought it

My original reason for buying was I really just wanted the MFSW switches as my other trims are cracked... and it was a bloody good price so that helped

+1. I've done the same as Marlon, had all three and the M one is definitely the best of the bunch in terms of feel. I do miss the nicer leather my royals one had so I'm looking to get jack to re-trim my m one soon.

I'd happily take the bottom M trim off your hands. Mine is badly scratched and needs tidying.

Personally I love the M wheel. It's comfortable to hold and feels perfect to my pudgy little hands!!

I'll get some close pics of the bottom M trim tomorrow night when I'm home :)

Retrimmed M Wheel here, best of both worlds !!

Looks nice.

I just can't decide if I prefer it a little more spongy or if I prefer the slightly firmer standard wheel

My "new" Z came with a retrimmed "M" wheel and I can't believe how different it feels, in a good way. Totally transforms the drive imo. Would be one of my first purchases now if I ended up in another Z that didn't have one.

Probably the Worst "Romeo and Juliet quoting" as it's from Hamlet

You clearly did that just to test us didn't you?

I stumbled into acquiring a X3 M sport wheel and it felt great... So decided I’d get an M for the Zed. When the opportunity came along I found it was just that little bit too padded for me and felt it may have cause issues with my paddle shifts. Went Royals route after and it’s inbetween the M and standard thickness. Not so padded and still feels great. I’m happy with it :driving:

Hi James,
please put some photos with the new steering wheel, when is in the position. :driving:
I think you are satisfied whith the new parts for your car.
Enjoy

I will indeed - going to be re-trimmed first before fitting though so will be a little while longer :)

Thanks all - Going to be using the M wheel from Dorin (Thanks again btw, super fast delivery - arrived quicker than most thinks I buy INSIDE THE UK  ) going to re-trim it first though before fitting :)
