Who's charged?

Want to get an idea of how good the M is with a supercharger on, and in particular the ESS 525 or 560 kit. A mate has the 525 kit on an M3, but not been in it yet (amaingly)!

And what problems did you face etc :D

Yep - Beedub is your man. I think the major problem he's faced is the manner in which its emptied his wallet, then sold his grandparents too :D

Woow superchargers. Bonkers. but why not?

Thread on this forum seems to be here:

yes i am....

car drives lock stock really, theirs no big weird lumps in power or TQ, the power and Tq simply moves Up the dyno graph, I've gone through various levels of tune, and its never let me down really, absolutely solid as a rock, the fuel consumption is terrible , but you can actually get better MPG on a long run on the motorway as it boosting just enough to be a helping hand for the motor . The sound is incredible and compared to what many would think, you can still hear the s54 in all its glory, with some nice blows and pops added in for good measure. The car needs lots of work imo to be able to use it reliably for a decent stretch, but when its all dialled in correctly its insane, performance is ballistic, it will outrun some seriously expensive kit, its also quite a handful.

its taken me a long long time to get it to what id class as the perfect install, i went to the painstaking route of modding the parts in some respects to get a oem level of cleaness, absolutely NO mods done to the car or wiring this could be reversed back to stock without a trace it was supercharged., etc.... it looks beautiful in the engine bay and always draws a large crowd when i lift the hood.
Best mod I've ever done, but caused alot more expensive work to be done to the car to cope.

It is fcuking gorgeous

Though it'll look a little less gorgeous if I ever get anywhere near it as it will be on bricks after I'm done half-inching those wheels

Here she is with my new oem bmw side decals... These suckers were expensive but really nice quality. ... . bad galaxy s5 pic.

it took some serious time, and effort to get it like that plus i replaced lots of the supplied parts with uprated pieces, right down to the hoses you can't see. i wold happily wager if the car was used daily, the s/c setup would be worry free, id be far more concerned about the usual s54 issues before the blower setup, its rock solid, its done nothing but enhance the vehicle... i believe its still the uks only blown z4m.

onto the decals, they are they oem bmw 5 series f10 decal, matt black with small ///M performance wording on the side., they are cut to size ( cue a very nervous me) then run along the line of the sill , it took a while to get them cut down measured perfectly and installed, but it was worth it, the car looks so so so fresh... i don't really have decent pics of it tbh that show it in its best form, ill need to take some, ill get on my phone and post the other pic i have, its not the best however. they don't loose the flare of the aero sit but enhance it, works really well with the black HT, the car is really turning heads now, plenty of thumbs up :-)

excuse the pants angle i was sitting down trying to keep my son from bashing the side of the car with his little play car.

ill get it out and get my nikon out and and take some decent ones shortly for a further away shot.

That IS modding with a purpose, none of your de-gingering or front splitter nonsense just solid performance upgrades. Subtle, brutal and beautifully engineered - bloody fantastic. I wish I had the time, cash ...... and knowledge

Love the car, but not a fan of the decals, makes the car seem too high, but that's just IMO

fair enough... each to their own.... the car looks absolutely beautiful in the flesh. nothing less. my galaxy s5 is having a problem picking up the matt black from the sill to the dark shadow on the floor....

heres the nitro plated- stepped large bore s-pipe and 100cell race cats on V-band clamps .... porn... :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) The exhaust note is so far from the usual s54 you guys would drool all day long, it sounds, NUTs.

Anyway their you go OP... some pics to whet your appetite if you want to go the same way.

Very nice Beedub. :D

What made you go for the 445 kit? I know its by far the easiest kit to do, well ,my mate had the 455 then the 560 kit on his E46 M3. He said the 560 was a pain to install. And i think the 445 kit would be plenty on the Z4M to be fair!

its been through 3 stages of the supercharging now... then went on further and modded outside of ess .... i started with the non intercooled 445 kit many years ago... it was good but wouldn't recommend the it, felt to slow after prolonged use and would heat soak, i also changed LOTs of the stock ESS parts s i wasn't happy with the quality.

And yes, the full fat kits are an utter pain in the ass to fit , but looks so cool with all the boost pipes neatly snaking around the engine bay.

Beedub, i love your motor, tastefully done and would love to do that to my car if i had the time and expertise. With all the mods how would the car fare as a daily car? I've had my //m for just over 3 months and i'm 4k miles in already. :D
