My name is Lentis Lee and live in Allen County, Ky. I just purchased my first Z4, a 2004 and of course am in the process of correcting all of the items that need addressing. My first purchase will be a new set of tires. The size is 225/45R17. I believe them to be run flats, am I correct as there is no spare. What brand do you recommend for smooth handling. I will not be doing any high speed racing. Looking forward to being an active participant.

Welcome to the forum - if I understand you, you're considering buying run flats? I would buy non-run flats which will give a smoother driving experience. Many members have ditched their run-flats because of the poor ride and what's called 'tramlining' where the steering feels vague and disconnected. There's no spare as you say but I (and many other members) carry a small compressor and tyreweld puncture repair kit in the trunk to get us home if we're unlucky.
I would recommend Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 3 tyres

I had a Corvette and also many recommended tube tires. The problem is that the large retailers will not mount and balance tube type tires on runflat rims because of the liability(manf did not recommend tube type). What tire would you recommend that are RUN FLATS? Does Goodyear Eagle manf the 225/45R17 run flat? Thanks.

Hi Lee
Welcome to the board. What do you mean by tube tyres? The none run flats Marlon is referring to, don't have tubes in them. they just have a different construction with less stiff sidewalls.

Hi Lentis Lee, (never heard of that before) Welcome to the forum, don't forget to post some photos of your car. Non run flats are the way to go, your Zee will feel safer for a start.

Hello and welcome from across the pond
Here in the Free world we use a different version of English
We have run flats and normal tyres
Zeeeeee 4’s or as we call the Zeds will run happily on both, however you’ll get a better ride with normal tyres
The Rims which we call Alloys will happily take both types of tyres without any issues
Welcome aboard and happy Zeeeeeing !

Welcome to the forum OP.
You are right, there is no spare wheel because as standard Z4s are supplied with run-flat tyres and a Tyre Pressure Warning System. If your car has run-flats they will be marked as such in some way - different markings for different manufacturers, but this may help:-
https://www.blackcircles.com/helpcentre ... flat-tyres
But most on here recommend ditching the run-flats and getting a can of Tyre-Weld or similar and a compressor - which is what the Z4M models had as standard!
And don't forget the photos (just in case nobody mentioned it).
