hi, picked up my zed about a week ago so thought I'd stop by and say hello
i used this forum alot while researching so thanks for the valuable info.
So far the zed has proven to be a much better car than i thought it would be, on the way home from picking her up she averaged 48mpg on the motorway!!! 48!!!

shes a 3.0si sport roadster, some pics....

hopefully the pics work, not had the weather yet to get any other good pics

sure I'll be asking questions soon enough about some minor issues

thanks :D yes that colour looks awesome!! M only?
my other car is silver so was a bit sad and had them matching!!

Welcome to the forum OP.

Weather may not be too good, but your car looks great!

Bonus points as well for putting photos in your first post!

And if you keep getting 48 mpg you aren't driving it right!

Welcome to the forum, great 3.0si you've got yourself
That average mpg is staggering! How did you manage it? Best I've achieved was 44 mpg travelling over 550 miles in two days.

Haha that mpg was on the M5 last week, through some 50mph sections, good traffic flow and me just seeing what it could do....its now saying 24mpg, chasing economy got boring fast, much better to ingore it and listen to the engine sing!!

Welcome along, pics look great

I thought I was doing well getting 38 mpg on my first long trip but yours was phenomenal. I hope you took a photo as I doubt you'll ever see it again now you've found the enjoyment in 24mpg

Sadly no photo, I was going to then switched sport mode on and well, you get the idea :driving: 8)
I think the car had been stood a while because its taken a bit of time to 'free up' and this engine is a gem now!! Not the fastest thing around but just so responsive and revvy.
Finding the gearbox to be a bit of a pain though, obviously i had read all about its notchyness but getting it into 1st and 2nd can be annoying at times and its started making the release bearing/input shaft bearing noise I've seen alot of people get.
I'm not sure if I should persue this with the garage I got the car from as I have a few weeks warranty with the car, any input from you guys would be great.
The cars just rolled over 75k so maybe new oil would help?
Do these boxes have brass syncros? My volvo does and fancy gbox oil eats them and kills the box.

poor Zelda was stinking dirty today so planned a quick wash, only to find there was absolutely no wax under the dirt, which not only looks crap, but isnt good for the paint, especially this time of year so she had her first proper bath, meguires polish and canuba wax, she smells as good as she looks now. Did start to de-old the headlights but ran out of daylight, patience, 2000 grit and spine so at the moment they are caked in wax to hide it

pics straight from my phone camera on my drive as it started to get dark, i think she cleans up well

Nice looking facelift you've got yourself there!
48mpg? That's quite some achievement. Are you using the OBC? Or breaking it down yourself?
Already sorting a few bits and bobs out too which is good to see! I remember I washed my soft top 2-3 times initially as it was quite neglected (on hosedown the water colour was green  )

Welcome!! Lovely looking zed. Wish i could get anything near that mpg. Living in London im lucky to get anything higher than 24mpg with all the traffic lights. Traffic. Speed bumps

Welcome aboard. Very nice example and you clearly know your onions on the detailing front. Definitely the best colour for the Zed, although I am biased! :D Seriously though the Zed looks good in a number of colours but I think its hard to argue against silver being the best for showing off those Bangle curves and contours. Here's me thinking I was doing well getting 38 MPG on a recent run in mine that involved a shed load of average speed cameras. Then again the later N52 is more frugal than the earlier M54 engine.

These 3.0 litre Zeds can be astonishingly frugal. Whenever it comes up in conversation people don't believe me when I tell them the MPG I can get. "3.0 litre petrol, your kidding right!"
