What I basically want to do is just an informal drive up through some of my favourite local roads, a couple of stops, something to eat, then head home happy with an empty tank.

Proposed route would be something like, - meet at scotch corner hotel, nice and easy to find, head up to the A67 barny road, down over Whorlton Bridge, awesome little bridge which wobbles, well worth a look if your into that sort of thing. From there pick up the Stang road towards Langthwaite, along the reeth road and over the Buttertubs pass to Hawes for some food, back down the Hawes road to leyburn. From Leyburn up to Richmond and then home, this comes out back at Scotch corner so has good access.

Obliviously if im going to sort this then I would want some respect from those who come along, obliviously were all in sports cars and want to enjoy them, im fairly easy going but would like to stick to the following which I think are important, i.e. 30mph is 30mph in villages, there is some long open stretches and to avoid unwanted attention I will be sticking to a sensible speed.

So, any takers to join in driving some awesome local roads, I know plenty more routes due to riding bikes so we will see how this goes?

scotch corner is only about half an hour away for me so id be up for it if the timing is right.

is it forum only or are non forum members welcome? il obviously tell them to stick to the speed limits as you asked, i think thats a fair request for anyone who is coming along

Robb,

An excellent idea. Will be out of UK for your first proposed run but for future events then count me in. AND FOR OTHERS - it takes a lot out of the organiser arranging what these events so give it some support AND if you agree to go then TURN UP (a bit of a rant from past experience....) :driving:

I would be well up for that. Sounds like a good drive. the weekend of the 12th March is no good though as Im off to london for my birthday with the other half to 'see a show' ooh. How did she know I was into musicals?...... p;robably because of the car I drive

Ye count me in,like Ruud i'm only 30 mins away, and sounds like a good run.iirc Jeremy Clarkson said that the Buttertub pass is one of his favourite roads in the UK ,so always wanted to do it.

Buttertubs Pass is a great road if you avoid the sheep :) in fact there are some of my favorite roads around Ingleton to Hawes.

Wait till you guys drive the Stang road, it makes the buttertubs look like the A1, it really is a hidden gem. :driving:

Come on fella's, (and Ladies) sign up for this meet. We dont want to be outdone by southern softies now do we?

i can bring some people along. we should maybe post it on pistonheads to see how many zeds turn up?

If the timings right I could well be up for a run out but somehow I think it won't work out bit like AlanJ, Scotch Corner is about 1 1/2 from me or 20mins from my parents.

I am probably interested.

Would be good to kick off early to save been in a convoy of complete slowbies. Not that I want to drive fast, but open roads are far nicer if you are going out to enjoy driving!

Dave

Right, as there is some interest lets try and set a date.

I would like to propose either march 21st or 28th, both sundays, which one is best for most people?

If you dont mind, i dont really want to post it on piston heads, this will be my first car meet and i want to keep it fairly moderate if possible.

I will update the first post with people who want to come.

Cheers for the interest guys.

no probs on the pistonheads front just a suggestion incase numbers were low. :D

im available the 21st

Yep, best to keep it small and manageable!

No need to have everyone under the sun on the same drive out :)

Dave

I would certainly be up for meeting you all somewhere in the Dales, if an interloper from the North West is allowed to tag along? :)
If there are others from this side of the great divide we could sort out a route to meet up maybe in Hawes. Don't mind which date.

either date is good for me, probably the 28th gives a slightly better chance of Spring type weather

Just found out im busy on the 28th as well now, looks like this is going to be the 21st.

I will change the thread title.
