Scottish Z4-forum Meet - Sun 18th April 2010

There's never been a Scottish meet (that I'm aware of) in the history of the Z4-forum. After much discussion, I'd like to suggest the following plan:

Details:
* Sunday 18th April 2010
* 9.30am gathering / 10.00am departure
* Start/finish at Stirling Services (FK7 8ET)

Format:
* approx 4hrs / 155miles driving spread across the day
* several photo/chat/pee stops along the way
* lunch in Dunkeld (possibly The Taybank for stovies/burgers :-) )
* route will be Dunkeld via Crieff, back via Dukes Pass and Aberfoyle, and finish off back in Stirling
* optional alternative route home for west-coast/Glasgow folk from Aberfoyle rather than return to Stirling
* all A/B road, NO dual-carriageway/motorway
* exact route will be PM'd/emailed to all going

Basically the plan is just an informal drive along some cracking roads, a couple of stops, something to eat, then head home happy with an empty tank. I'm fairly easy going but expect anyone coming along to drive sensibly, e.g. sticking to 30mph/40mph limits in built up areas. Obviously we're all driving enthusiasts and want to enjoy our cars, but to avoid unwanted attention I'll be sticking to a sensible speed on the open road. Partners are encouraged to come along: proper toilet stops (and not just the nearest bush!) will be planned - something I've learned from previous drives - and Dunkeld has a lot of non-driving stuff to do...

The 25th April had been mentioned too, but my wife's just reminded me that we're away on holiday early the following morning and I'd kinda forgotten about that :oops:

I'll PM everyone going nearer the date with the exact route and more details.

Let's do this :driving:

I will check the wifes shifts and get back to you, If she is working I should be on. I was over the Dukes pass last night at the end of a BMWCC run, there was still snow on the road between the tyre tracks but the top was down all day.

Im working that weekend but will try and change shift to be there! If car back from dealers by then :cry: :cry:

Will try my hardest...Will try and go home that weekend, it's a shorter drive from H'Burgh to Stirling that Aberdeen to Stirling.

I could be tempted but I'm currently selling the Z4.
If it doesn't go by then I might come along.

I've never been to a meet before so would be interesting.
Keen photographer too so lots of shots to take!

I'm a possible

All the vibes I'm getting from my potential buyer are positive - so it looks like my Z4 will be sold on Tuesday.
If so that'll rule me out....I'm sure I'd look out of place driving an Audi A4 even if it is a turbo 4WD!!

I'll keep you informed.

cheers
Dave

Can we do a run with as few potholes as possible? :roll:
I only know of one road with no potholes: a rolling road :rofl:

I drove a large part of that route a couple of weekends before and can't recall any major craters in the surface, just the usual pish surfaces you get after winter...

To paraphrase a film "Organise it and I will come" :)

If I'm in the UK and not miles away on holiday then a national meet sounds good to me.

Trying to recruit a few of my old s2000 mates for this if no one objects. Not sure if any will be up for it but you never know.
