Scotland meets end-2011/early-2012 - planning ahead

There's been some discussion about a final Scottish z4-forum meet across other threads - lets stick all the discussion in one thread - we can always change the title once we decide on something! ANYONE can contribute 'cos we're all-welcoming up here and it's great to see forum folk from further afield come on up and remind us how lucky we are with our scenery (not so much the weather :roll: )


1/ Willy Wavers Moffat Meet - late-sept/early Oct - postponed (I think)
The original plan for a late-Sept/early-Oct Dumfries run is postponed due to him-with-the-Dumfriesshire-road-knowledge being out of the UK. Something might be rescheduled for Dec/Jan - see here for continuing discussion.


2/ Altenative Oct meet
IF the above meet is postponed, I'm more than happy to put a route together for a 1-day drive sometime in October if there's interest? I'm keen to get another drive before winter really kicks in. Would prefer to cover roads we've not done before so perhaps something taking in Peebleshire roads (south of Edinburgh as far as Moffat). I know certain turquoise-Z4-owning folk are on holiday though at some point? Thoughts?


3/ 2012...
It's AGES away, but I know there's been various ideas talked about at the recent Islay meet so lets have 'em...

I'm happy to arrange an overnighter meet again (similar to the Skye meet in May this year) - contraversially it ain't going to be Skye this time though! Variety is good and I have an idea involving either a 2-day/1-night or 3-day/2-night meet taking in Applecross (west coast) and possibly Inverness...

I've heard rumours about Malc organising a meet on the roads in his neck of the woods :poke:

And I've also heard someone mention a Euro trip?!!

Yeh O.K.

I was planning on doing a one day meet in May - "Straths and Lochs."
That's Strath-Braan, Strathmore, Strath-Ardle then Loch Tummel, Loch Tay and Loch Earn. :driving:

What is the preferred option - an organised lunch or a picnic/barbecue?

p.s. We used to have a turquoise bathroom suite way back in the 70s - it was....

I am pretty much up for all of the above except anything that falls in October 2011 (I will be on holiday, dunno if I have mentioned it)

Note i am not biting on the turquoise comments. :roll:
 
Last sunday in october works for me ..... ( I think ?)

I think Lecht and Glenshee need to be done at some point 2012 and what about a mass trip to a National event next year ?

don't bite Nosa its only jealousy ......
 
Up for all of them!

A meet some time in October would be pretty good although the way things are looking it would need to be the last weekend.

Why dont some of u fellow Scots get yourselves along to the Z4-FORUM NATIONAL MEET,at the end of June/early July??
Would be nice to have more than just myself there from Scotland :D :driving:

I was looking forward to the next Skye meet,ally (seeing it clashed with my 1st wedding aniversary this year) :(

Would be interested in an October (1 day) meet,if dates suit...keep us posted :thumbsup:

Absolutly has to be done, I did that in February upto braemar across to Ballater then the coast it was Excellent, whilst doing that drive SWMBO even suggested that the Z4 forum should look at doing this route. :o :o
 
Interested whenever overnight stops involved - otherwise it's a long trip for a single day. Look forward to seeing you again in 2012!

All just a question of timing, I had every intention of going last year then work got in the way and I think I was travelling back from somewhere this year.
End of June could collide with a trip already in the planning stage for next year but fingers crossed.

Ally as you know if I can I will be there, work permitting :thumbsup:

That's something I'm aware of and why I'm thinking 2-night/3-day meets might be more attractive for some folk :)

Yup, me too - I'll pretty much always be away around the end-June/start-July as it coincides with biking things in France...
 
I'm keen to go to a Scotland meet in 2012 pur-lease :D . Needed a Black Sapphire this year.

2 or 3 night stay over sounds good.

Twas my first visit to Scotland this year on the forum meet, so really looking forward to going to another and seeing more stunning Scottish scenery and see chaps / chapesses.

Black Z4's are something we're short of up here, particularly cardboard ones with custard :poke:

..and the same could be said for Z4M's on meets too :)


OK, I'll check availability with Mrs a11y and see about planning a meet for the final weekend in Oct. Watch this space :)

As for 2012, I'll get onto it sometime soon. Aiming for the same sort of time as last year, i.e. May 2012, to avoid the worst of the midges (that's what they're called Oakandacorns!).

Hmm... well, I was interested in this one too, probably in the passenger capacity myself this time - now that you have all seen my car with your own eyeballs. So, will be in Oakandacorns' erm, car :wink:

I'm referring to the 2 night trip, to be organised by Ally... again, it'll be my must attend meet :thumbsup:

Midges, smidges. I don't understand them, WHY DO THEY EXIST?!! They get you, but what do you get in return?? I itch like there's no tomorrow and feel really uncomfortable for aages. What IS the point of parasites! :evil:
