The details are close to finalising now. I have a fantastic photo opportunity (although it's a bit of a gamble how well it's going to turn out), a fantastic pub for lunch and, as a bit of a bonus, a post-cruise partay!
The starting point for this cruise will be the Extra Services at Willington, which is at the junction of the A38 and the A50. If you want to stay over the night before, there is an Etap hotel at the starting point. There is a Starbucks, Le Petit Four and Shell at the start, so both cars and people should be well "vittled"!
If you fancy a slightly more posh hotel, there is a Ramada that is also very close to the starting point.
The cruise will probably be a little slower than most people expect from a Spokey cruise, but a lot of the route is going to be along a heavily speed-trapped 50MPH stretch.
Before lunch, we will be stopping off at the photo opportunity. In order to grab the best spots for the photos, we will have to be there at 11:00 sharp, so the cruise will need to leave at 09:30 sharp.
Lunch is a stone's throw from the photo opportunity and I will try to arrange that we get a room to ourselves. I've already tried the lunch venue and it was superb!
After lunch, there will be a bimble around a bit of Staffordshire and we will finish up where the cruise started. If people need to peel off earlier, we will be crossing the M6, just let me know if you need to do this.
Finally, if you haven't had enough fun, there will be a social evening at a local eaterie. Please vote for your venue option here.
