I made the mistake to do a test drive as this was offered to me a couple of weeks ago. The second mistake was talking to my parents who I thought would try to talk some sense in me, but they said I should do it (I guess they want me to take the brochures out of my childhood bedroom that have been there since I was 16 or so :D ). My wife was also supportive of me getting this so you start to wonder if they have seen some medical report that I am unaware off or so

Anyway, it started off with looking at a 911 Carrera S, and after speccing that up to the non flimper spec (what - no cruise, heated seats, phone module, satnav, rain sensor, dimming mirrors as standard ???), it actually exceeded the cost of a 50th Anniversary model which has a load of tasteful extras as standard and is limited to a quantity of 1963 units. I did spec the glass sunroof as well :) and sports exhaust is standard (talk about noise ...).

The one that I ordered which will be built in April time is very similar to this one:

I have chosen to go for the 7 speed manual gearbox, obviously there are the doom preachers that you can never sell the car without PDK but looking at the units produced so far of this run, about 50% is manual.

The 911 has been a car I have always loved the looks of and am looking forward to getting this in May.

Lovely car and you'll love it.

Don't think those wheels do it any favours though - especially as they make the discs look tiny :P

They are massive those wheels, 20" :o

So I have joined the coupe club as well and can still remain a member with my M

Very nice, I want one!!

My plan alas will be a 997 cabrio, maybe in a few years...it will still be the 2nd car and will replace my Z.

Maybe if I sell my bikes......NOT. Wife will need to work longer hours!!!

Ooh very nice

I know it's stating the obvious describing a 911 as retro but I like the chrome slats and badges on the rear, reminds me of the very early cars

No - think the Golf will be moved from the current garage to where the Polo is now, the M will go in the Golf garage and the Polo will be somewhere on the drive (for now at least).

Looks gorgeous!!! Congrats!!

The only worthwhile upgrade to the Z4M IMO

I like the wheels like a modern fuchs alloy

Congratulations Paul but, not intending to be a party-pooper, for the cost of the 50th Anniversary edition I'd have found it hard not to spend <£8k more and go for the GT3 - was there a reason you discounted the GT3?

I think production may be suspended as a few have gone up in smoke.

That anniversary is nice! !!!!

That 20% increase in power and 20% reduction in 0-62 times for c.£8k is a hard thing to ignore - OK the GT3 may be a bit 'firm' for a DD, but for a weekend fun car...

I'm not saying that the Anniversary model was the 'wrong' choice, I'm just interested in the decision process that came down in its favour...

By the time you add the same options the price difference is more like 20k and the 50th anniversary is just above the amount I was willing to spend so out of reach really. Also PDK which is not on my wishlist, but would not have been a reason to not get it though.

Also, this way I can keep the M (man math in its best form).
