Hello,

I noticed a few posted recently about coving the locks, its something that i have wanted to do for a while now but only just go round to knocking something up

This is the first set i have made and is still only a proto-type

I havent sprayed them in my actually colour, i just used a rattle-can of silver that i had in the garage but the finished article will be in the real colour

Front door:

The boot one is not as big as i would like, i would like it to cover the black rubber bit too so i might make it a bit bigger

Depending on how many people are intrested this could be something that i could knock up a few more of and post out to people if people are willing to help with costs, what does every one think?

Thanks for looking

Sam

looking good... I would be interested, how have you attached them

Agree the rear need to be a bit larger

Im just going to use a small bead of silicone

then you can easily flick them off with you key of you ever need to use the key ie. flat battery

you could use glue but i think silicone will hold them just fine

Excellent,

I think they only problem im going to have is with colours

If people have the same colour as me i will happily spray them for you and post them out, however people with diffrent colours i will just mail out non-painted and you can spray them your self otherwise it will cost me a fortune in spray paint lol

Thats fine - people can just buy the touch up pots from their local dealer.

Why would you want to cover the locks though? Is this simply cosmetic? It seems a bit excessive if thats the case IMHO.

Why not?

Yes simply cosmetic

A lot of mods are cosmetic like bolting on a spoiler or new wheels etc.

Sounds good,

ive just bought some thinner material to try so the door covers dont stick out so far not that they are to noticable now

It will be about anouther week or so before they will be ready to go, bit busy at work at the moment

sorry to be negative, i prefer locks as they are

Not negative just personal opinion/prefrence

Im mainly doing it for the boot cover, to smooth out the look as its de-badged now but i thought while i was going to the effort i will do two for the handles too

I quite like the look of them, i got some for old s2k, which i should have removed... They had a plastic tooth so slotted into the key hole, no glue needed.

Ive just gotta sort out the boot one now, this one wont fit the boot as its too small

Does every body only have one key hole? my passenger side dosent have a key hole

If anyone wants one ... or two depending on how many locks you have let me know,

I can only paint them steerling grey or topaz blue as thats they only rattle cans i have, if you are happy to paint them your self i will post them unpainted

£5 to cover costs
