I know the BMW owner's manual indicates that the Z4 requires premium fuel. However, I have been told by other BMW Z4 owners that they use the mid-grade and have never had any issues. So, given the price of fuel . . . what do you use? Z4 Pilot

We only have 98 RON or 95 RON here in the UK so its Premium or Standard really.

I use either.....95 for normal circumstances but the odd 98 when on an outing because it does make a discernable difference to performance.

HA HA HA your in america it costs more for a cup of joe at the services for us in europe than it does for you in the usa ! and what you pay for a gallon we are paying for a litre! FILL THE BAD BOY UP !

we have 91, 95 or 98RON. I wouldnt put the 91 in my car. I use 98 aout 99% of the time (but some petrol stations here dont sell 98)

I've tried 95, 97, 98 and 99. With the 2.0 I get about 1-2 mpg more with 97/98 (Tesco 99 was like 95, but worse subjectively). Can't tell the difference subjectively, so I stick with the 95 because the price difference isn't sufficient to make the 97/98 value for money. Wouldn't be surprised if the 2.5/3.0 has a bigger improvement with 98.

Exclusively Shell V-Power. Worth the extra couple of miles to get it and worth the extra price as far as I'm concerned.

To be honest, 95 or 98 doesn't make much difference on performance if you ask me in my Z4M.
I use 95 in winter en 98 in summer.

I put Low grade as I fill with 95, but now guessing that there's a grade even lower in the states.

I tried a tankful of V-Power once, on my general driving around the only difference I noticed was that I had a lighter wallet. :x

to answer your question i use shell v power at 98 or tescos momentum at 99 i did try vpower max in germany at 102 i think it was but the price ! i only used 1 tank and i think your engine needs to "learn" the higher octane as i didnt feel any difference other than in my wallet !!!! :D

I have been using the premium stuff, but apart from on long journeys not noticed much difference. Most of my driving is stop-start city driving so will probably start using standard unless on a long trip.
