M Steering Wheel, spokes

Just fitted an M Steering with Tri-Colour stitching to my Zed, I was able to use my existing MFSW spokes for the for the radio controls but then discovered the bottom spoke cover is diferent, would I be right in thinking that a trip to the stealer's is on and that I can only but a complete set of spoke covers and not just the one I need.

Also is it possible to get them without the M badge.

So - the tri-colour wheel is identical (I think!) to the normal M wheel apart from that stitching. The bottom spoke on the normal M wheel has an M badge, so I don't think you will get one without the M badge.

BUT - if you're concerned about it have an "M" connotations when you don't have an M... well, as I said the normal M wheel has the badge, and to behonest, having the tri colour stitching is way worse than have the M badges...! :poke:

Oh no, don't lets start the 'M' badge nonsense again......... :crazydude:

Richard I am assuming you have come from a non ///M wheel, if so arent the spokes silver/chrome?

If so you will need a complete set as they will be black.

I am going to try and mod exiting spokes,if not it's a trip to the stealers, as it indeed looks like you have but all the spokes in a kit.

As posted earlier, I have fitted a M Steering Wheel and have been wondering what to do with spokes, currently I have managed to get the the standard wheel covers to fit, admittedly the bottom one does require a little bit more fettling to get it to fit right

Should I pay BMW the ridiculous price for new spokes and MFSW Button's plus giving my car it's first M badge (which I really don't want to do, the same thing is stopping me getting a ZHP) or stick with what's there and get them fitting correctly.

I can't get over the difference it makes to the feel of the car, it really is leaps and bounds over skinny standard item.

Get a price from the dealer for a single spoke. I'll bet they can order just 1 not a kit. Failing that get to work fettling.

Result looks really good already

But you have a ///M steering wheel badge or not

Not quite sure the look is right with chrome spokes and multi colour stitching, but as you say so much beeter than a skinny wheel.

I agree with srhutch the original black spokes look much better.

I'm always mentioning wrapping, but it's a real cheap solution that can look really good, if not better. You could wrap it in matte black to keep it OEM-ish looking or carbon fiber as I've mentioned before somewhere. The wrap won't cost much and is readily available on ebay, so it might be worth it.

If you do however go the dealer route and get the buttons too then if it's ok with you I'd like to shotgun your current MFSW buttons please! :D

RichG - sorry to hijack but on a separate note how did you get the CF roudel on the steering wheel?

I bought the whole set but bottled doing the airbag one with the battery connected as i kinda like my face as it is. Any tips?

Very technical, took ages, so long it hurt, the wife thought I'd left home, Double Sided Sticky Tape, it's covering the OEM one, didn't fancy trying to prise the old off myself, however cj10 did.

there is always the option to wrap it with CF cloth.

I was thinking about doing that with mine, wrap the spokes but leave the MFSW silver. I hate random bits of CF stuck onto cars (Nova style) but think the look some people on here have got with it looks quite acceptable.

CF spokes on that wheel would certainly look better than the silver I think, and you have a CF badge already of course.

ps, you've got so much stuff stuck in your car! TomTom, different headunit, air freshener, something in the 12v supply

edit: To steal one of Starscream's pics

Good job you can't see the iPod stuck in the glovebox connected to the headunit and the phone cradle then, the 12v supply is for the Garmin, I can't be alone in having an air freshener, if you think it's alot of stuff now you should have seen it before when I was using one those triple adapters for the cigarette lighter, Phone Charger, Garmin Supply & an iPod transmitter.

it's like my missus' handbag on wheels

3 things, 1 of which is a permanent fixture and your comparing it to the Black Hole that is a women's Handbag, so you have absolutely nothing extra in the car, nothing, narda, zilch. :poke:

having wrapped my interior with CF fabric, i can vouch for it - looka OEM, feels OEM and people complimented me on it - even girls who dont know two sh.ts about cars or CF. :)
