So how rare is the "old" Z4?

Now that the New Z4 has made my Zed Four "old", how many (few) Z4s were: a) ever made in total and b) sold in the UK - and how do those numbers compare with the Z3?

All I know is that I see relatively few Z4s on the road (in London and SE England) compared with Z3s, Porsches etc.

As I intend to keep my Zed 4 for many years to come, is it possible that low numbers will keep the residuals higher and will it be, is it a modern day classic? :)

Finally, IMHO, the pre-facelift cars are the real classics with those round rear lights and gunmetal paint :poke:

try this thread for numbers.

I see at least 2 Z4 (not including my car) everyday. But Z3 are now hard to be seen (may be once a month). Boxster are as many as Z4 on the road.

No I don't unfortunately, although I know the SLK is over 45,000 but that includes the Mk1 as well. Bet it's pretty similar to the Z4.

These are low numbers - I smell a modern classic badge some time soon, especially given the controversial design

Anyone know the numbers for the Z3?

This weekend sporty type cars I have seen on my local travels:

2 Aston Martins, 2 Ferraris, 3 M3's, 1 TVR, 2 Bentley GT's, 3 Z4 roadsters and only my Z4 Coupe! :D

Lost count how many Porsche!!

Just to clarify these are UK numbers only.

Coupe rare? No - check out the BMW used site where they have 79 for sale :poke:

There were 2 other Z4s at the driving school this weekend (both roadsters). On the way to the Dragon and back home (I did over 500 miles on Sunday), didn't see another. Of course, on the interstate highway, I wasn't looking at the other side!!

On the Dragon, saw only one other sports car---a yellow and black viper. Everyone else was in plain old cars, on motorcycles, or huge vans/pickup trucks (who, btw, drove too danged slow and didn't obey the "stay on your side" rule, grrrrrrrrr). If BMW could convince Tennessee to block that road off and let just Bimmer roll on that thing, we could have so much fun!

2,655 total coupes??????? I'll bet the Ms were reported under the M heading. If not, we certainly have a jewel, M or non-M.
