Another Scotland road trip

Inspired by Dave's Scottish road trip earlier this year, we set off for a four day blast round Scotland. We left on Thursday morning and returned home at 4pm today with a total mileage of 1300 miles. This was our first trip to Scotland and we can't recomend it enough, great roads, little traffic and stunning scenery.

Day 1 - Nottingham to Largs via the A66, the lake district and Dumfries.
Day 2 - Largs to Kyle of Lochalsh via Loch Lomond, Callander and Fort William.
Day 3 - Lochalsh to Aviemore including a lap of the Isle of Skye.
Day 4 - Aviemore to Edinburgh with a very winding route through as much of the Cairngorms and Grampians as possible.
Day 5 - Edinburgh to Nottingham via the Falkirk wheel.

Our first road trip and we're hooked. The Z was faultless (other than the remote locking debacle on the first night  ) and returned 36mpg (calculated). The weather was mostly good with probably 600 miles of roof down action. Here's just a few random shots of the weekend - enjoy :)

Looks like a great trip, there really isn't a country to beat scotland when you get some good weather...

On the law of averages that will be the last we see of the sun for about four months

For anyone thinking of a similar trip there are some stunning east coast roads north of Inverness, stunning cliffside sweeps and curves, with plenty of sand breaks in case you loose your brakes on the step hills !!

.....love the colour of your car, looks classic.

just went day 1-day -5 of your trip, you only seen 00.1% of scotland,
hope to get a few of the members, end of july for a few days up north,
need be tents at the side of the road, who will ruff it. :)

I'm up for it....but work being work I'm already startin to get things in the diary that can't be changed up to the end of the third week in July, so lets just fix some dates and give people something to work to?

8)

....does that mean its a no - no for you at that time, or you are off work and can fix some dates for then?

If you can't do it in July it will have to be Aug, but avoid around 18th or I'll get my nads chewed off as going to U2 with my sensible half on 18th !!! (already had a public warning for moaning about having the crappiest seats in the stadium last time.....almost a divorce case!)
