What do you think of a white Z4

Hi
I am thinking of buying a nearly new Z4.
2.0i Sports with 18" alloys.

The thing is ......well, Its ALPINE WHITE.

I think that it looks stunning, especially with the hood up, and being a UK resident that's how it will spend 95% of it's time.

My question is "What do you guys think? Do you think it will hit the residuals hard if I buy a white one?"

I have checked Ebay tonight. There are 135 Z4's listed and exactly ZERO are white.

Please let me know your thoughts before I hand over my hard earned cash.

Thanks in advance,

Andy

Andrew, why not pay a visit to see the car first? If it hits your fancy, then

Good luck!

Just so you can picture it, here is a link to an Alpine White Z4, mine would have the black leather trim.

Thanks again,

I'm sure others will disagree with me. But personally I think alpine white is one of the less spectacular colors for the Z4. It just doesn't display the flame-surfacing. When you look at it from distance, you can't differentiate the lines very well. It can look nice if modified though.

It's really not bad... and if you live in England, it would be a change of pace from the dreary overcast days. But just like buying a shirt, you should decide if white looks good on you or not. Just a thought.

That's exactly my opinion.. Some of the race inspired and customised versions, Schnitzer, etc. look awesome, but as a 'normal' model IMHO it does it no favours.
Thing is though colour really is personal choice and if you like it then it's right.

Personally, I really love white cars. What color is the interior? I would have considered a white Z4, but having owned 4 white cars before I decided to go with something completely different this time. Though I do agree that the flame surfacing will not be quite as distinctive on a light color.

Buy it

I've always loved white, and when it's clean it'll look awesome. I saw a Fiesta ST in white earlier, it was sparkling clean, and it looked awesome, and that was inn the drizzle. Also, when I went to look at sixspeed's white Z4MC before he bought it, it looked amazing in the "flesh"

This is a link to the actual car that I'm thinking of buying. I would value your opinion as to the colour and the price. I have haggled down to £20K but he will not move any lower.

What do you think? Should I ditch my Silver 225BHP TT and go for the better looking and more economical Z4?

Thanks

That car is better looking than the first one you showed.

Looks nice!! Makes a difference with the black oregon leather too. More pleasing to the eye, I think. Mileage is slightly high, I think, for the time it was first registered, but ok for the price.

Did you test drive yet? Do you have other Z4 options than this car?

Funny how the center console never changes for the Z4 from the beginning.

Make it yours!!

Yep that looks really great.

You'd get a new one to that exact spec for £25k so you have to think whether it's worth it for £20k being 18 months old, it's possibly a tad too high for my liking, but if you like it and it's in top condition it's maybe worth it. Is it local too?

You're hardly going to get an unbiased opinion here.

But yes.

Thanks for your comments so far..

It's about 35 miles from home, not quite my local dealer but still close. The test drive is booked for tomorrow at 10.30.

I ran the BMW configurator and it came out at £27975 new AND i'd miss the 3 sunny days forecast between now and the end of September whilst I wait for delivery. Why oh why didn't I think of buying a roadster in the middle of winter?

There are a few options locally, but not much after the 56 facelift and there is still something pulling me towards the white - maybe it's got something to do with the ipod generation?

No one will fault you for getting that one. Buying, I assume? Wonder what the monthly payments for a lease would be.

Not too bad then. I got the cheaper new price from here http://www.coast2coastcars.co.uk

At the end of the day, if you like it, then it's worth it. And whilst their might be older salesmen that will lament anything in white, I reckon there are enough white cars around to change that opinion. And a white Z4 roadster is very rare indeed, I reckon you'd have a bit of demand for it in a couple of years.

Looks nice a nice example. Great wheels and it's got some nice ///M bits too

Given you're used to a 225 hp TT you might want to test a 2.5/3.0 to see how it compares. While you do mention something more economical some posters have commented that they wish they had purchased the bigger 6 cyl engine.

I agree, my second 'color' would be that after Jet Black..
