Vredestein Tyre Pressures

Sorry if this has been posted before. I did a quick check and couldn't see anything.

Speaking to someone at work he mentioned that he was enjoying his new Vredesteins. He'd checked and they'd been put on at the standard tyre pressures - when he checked they need to be a lot higher! I've some on the way - impossible to get hold of the 225 Eagle F1s just now - and wanted to check this out. Below are the link to the tyre pressure recommendations from Vredestein.

Zomerbanden = Summer
Winterbanden = Winter

Translation is a little off, but essentially...
Bandendruk voor = front
Bandendruk achter = rear

Would have got that wrong! Even running mid 30s which I have seen suggested here, it's still a way off.
 
Is that extra pressure because you're running 'extra load' versions where the standard tyres are not?
 
That Vredestein link looks like a load of rubbish mate - For starters its suggesting you put yours at 42/39PSI which is farrrr too much! Secondly theyre the wrong way round!

Use the load rating to compare tyres. I.e. if your RFT's are 225/45 R17 88Y, the 88Y is your load rating. As a rule, for every one you go up, you drop 1 psi. Therefore my Falkens are 92Y, so i drop the stock pressures by 4... 33/36 goes to 29/32. I actually opt for 30/32 however, like many on here :)

EDIT: Just checked Vredesteins pressures on my previous cars and they're all a MILE off!! VX220 it suggests 29/44!!! I ran mine at 22/24 hahaha :oops: Muppets, probably schmoking a bit too much weed whilst doing their website in a coffeeshop!

Now I'm not sure what to do... I think some experimentation needed! While I don't doubt your info, I don't know enough about tyres, which is why I went to the manufacturer. I started looking into this as one of the chaps at work has just put them on his Evo 8... said he's hating them, then found out they recommend higher pressures. Was shocked at how high. Will see what he thinks at the higher pressures.
 
Vredstein winter tyres are a popular choice on Land Rover Discos and there has been a lot of discussion this winter as the pressures on the online guide were quite different to OEM advice..... far higher.

I'd suggest phoning vredstein UK....

let me know how you get on because I have fitted vredstein on previous cars and really liked them just fitted sportrac 3s on swmbo's imprezza much better than the bridgestones that were on.

Done.

The tyre pressures on the web site are the maximums and they said higher than you would have otherwise. I was told Vredsteins run slightly higher and to use the maximum pressures listed in the handbook. So for a standard Z:
225/40 R18 - 33 PSI
255/35 R18 - 36 PSI
Will give that a try.

Just a word of warning, that wide, low profile tyres yield much more pronounced central tyre wear when overinflated and driven at high speed (motorway) due to centrefugal forces. Keep a close eye on them early on with the contact patch...

I noticed this quickly from my FK452's by just running them at 1-2psi over my current setup :)
 
Just had a chat with Vred UK and the fella is going to " have a look" at the chart they produce on the web - I pointed out to him the higher front pressures specified over the rears, which is in direct conflict with BMW recs.

He did say that the pressures should be as specified as in the vehicles handbook but for MAx Load conditions.
Unfortunately my book only specfies 33/36.
 
I changed mine to 33/36 today and have since been out for a wee run. Feels perfectly fine. I don't think I'll try going any higher.
