Quad Exhaust Conversion for our Bruce... NOW FITTED!!!

Been down to my local performace exhaust specialist this morning to see about undertaking the above.

He has agreed to undertake the conversion by tapping into the existing tail pipes and bringing the new feed across to the RHS behind the bumper as a recent post undertaken by somebody on here, can't remember who though!!

He is ordering 4no tail pipes in stainless steel on monday and I will hopefully be getting it done at some point throughout next week. Im going for the inner rolled pipe with a straight cut and will have the pipes staggered. They are slightly larger diameter than standard. I want to try and maintain the standard look as much as possible.

Looking forward to getting this done, think it will make the rear of the car look so much better... and balanced. Im pretty anal when it comes to things looking clean and balanced.

Besides if I wanted people to think it was an M then surely I would put an M badge on the rear and sides? Just because I like the much more aggressive styling of the M doesn't make it an M wannabe surely?

wasnt trying to cause offence- I think your car looks great and love the look of quads- just a suggestion to avoid :poke: when on a meet

It's going to look good - where is the company that is doing the quad conversion? And how much is it going to cost (sorry to ask)...

None taken paddywright. Guess im just quick to defend myself lol. Thanks for the complement on the car. Im starting to get the look just as I want it now. The quad should finish it off perfectly

Company is local to me in Doncaster, called Top Gear Performance. They have done work for me on previous cars including de-catting my last car ( 3.0 SE roadster). He had a look at it this morning and has quoted me ball park figure of £220.00 including cutting the bumper which I dont think is bad at all considering what some of you guys on here have been quoted. the figure might vary slightly depandant on the buggeration of getting it done. The figure includes a discount as Im a repeat customer a few times over!!

...an ///M bonnet would look fantastic, that would really finish the look :P

Sounds great - I much prefer the idea of a bit of custome work thna an off the shelf product at twice the price, plud fitting and bumper cutting.

Something to consider is heat wrapping the tube where it crosses inside the rear bumper. Could get pretty hot in there and also the petrol vapour filter is in the RHS corner.

Amazing price! :o

look forward to seeing the finished result.

I totally agree about a duplex/ quad finishing the look.....

I quite fancy getting one myself... however i also have a carbon rear diffuser to fit... and not ballsy enough to hack that like CJ.

I'd love a carbon rear diffuser but it appears BMW have stopped making them. If for whatever reason you decide you dont want to fit it then give me a shout, Ill have it off you :D

Well today has been an interesting day..

Exhaust has been fitted and its not been without its difficulties which resulted in a price hike but I am very happy with the result and the price payed.

The job changed a little once we started and we decided to omit the back box completely so the rears are just piped straight through; however the mid silencer and resonator are still in place. The result is a fantastic sound with alot of banging and popping when lifting off the throttle. Ill not lie its loud, almost verging a little on too loud but I like it.

I toyed with the idea of introducing a new box to feed both sides but figured as it was considerably cheaper to not have this done I would see how i get on with it like it is and can always add a box in at a later date if it gets too much.

Anyway, here are a few pics of the finished job, apologies for the angles but its the best I can get without getting on my back under the car.. I totally forgot to take pics during the install :?

looks awesome - how did the cutting of the bumper go?

Thanks Ranski,

Went really well. They made a template of the LHS and then flipped it and marked it out on the otherside. Took about half hour to get the position right but it looks perfect. We have cut the inner rolled lip of the LHS so it matches the RHS aswell. To be honest it looks like it rolled out of the factory like that.. Im chuffed to bits with it :D

I never even considered this. I was thinking about doing the cut and making the rolled inner lip the same way PawnSacrifice did it. But this option sounds far easier and less time consuming (wont require any painting either) so should save me a few $$$ just need to get a solid quote to get the piping done now

and from looking at yours, the way the tips fill the space you would never know the cutout is meant to be rolled in. Great effort!!
