End of Projects - for now...

A good number of you have PM'd me and made comments about the work I've been doing over the last few months so it might be worth pulling it together to conclude.

Basically I purchased my Z in April last year and decided I needed a series of Mods to make 'my car' and perfect for what I want and I'm there, bar one item and perhaps a few bits and pieces.

I took the already 'fully loaded' Z4 with 3.0i SE steptronic, sat nav, ellipsoids, heated seats, sports button, M suspension, clear lenses side and rear and many other goodies and set about a plan to customise it. I didn't want a track car, just something respectably quick, nor an armchair on wheels, but lots of toys and still practical. Fun and flattering to drive and sort of stylish and dare I say headturning beyond standard.

Therefore I have:
Added hardtop (and built a hoist/storage for it)
Retrofitted a 2007 facelift front end and narrowed licence plate holder for a personal reg.
Unique custom built clear lens xenon lights and angel eyes
Dream red ///M style seats with memeory and electrics
MFSW and paddle shift to the steptronic
Remote Reinhold roof module - 'cos it's just cool
and many more minor items like the Mangowalk Stubby aerial, brake caliper colour coding, ally pedals, etc. etc.

All that is outstanding is a retrofit of bluetooth that can come anytime now the MFSW is in place

I took a the £17,000 car and have spent something around £2,000 (a chunk of which is in the hardtop) and if I priced this up as a current car would cost me a little over £42,000. Sure it's a 4 year old car, but with <30,000 miles and a fanatical previous owner looks showroom new and is in effect as good as new.

I've created my perfect practical and fun car that I wanted and am happy. I hope the write ups gave you some inspiration and you enjoyed them half as much as I've enjoyed doing it.

So that's it I'm about done.

When I get back from a short family break I'll pull a photo record of it together and then perhaps fade away somewhat as I simply drive it, and drive it :driving:

Well, it would be a shame to fade away after making so many contributions over the last while, but I suppose you'll be logging on every now and then anyway

Mike - for my 500th post let me qualify that - I probably won't be doing write ups or asking as many awkward questions, but I'll be here and posting away and contributing whatever I can from my limited knowledge

I am sure you are ... like how you can clean oil stains from drives

Thanks for taking the time to take photographs and compose the write ups, they have been a pleasure to follow. It's a stunning looking Z4 you have now.

Great posts, great car ... have you thought of setting up "Z4P Limited" - Z4 Projects - offering consultancy to all us incompetent diy-ers who object to paying through the nose for everything BMW?!?!?!?
