Presents for My Z - UPDATED

On the 24th September 2011 I picked up my 3.0 Si Roadster and I've loved every minute since. Over the last few months I have been inspired by many of you to put some effort into personalising my Z to make it really 'mine' - much to the detriment of my bank account and, ocassionally, the patience of SWMBO :D . Phase 1 Modding is now (almost) complete - nothing mad, nothing unique, and actually a few of you have directly contributed to my efforts, so this has been a bit of a Community Project - thanks guys, credits below

I did a few things before Christmas, then installed a couple of presents on Christmas Day. Many people had Boxing Day today - I had Hood Treatment, Wash, Dry, Polish, Interior Cleaning & Photograph Day, using all my spiffy new Z-Love products... Unfortunately I only managed Hood Treatment, Wash, Dry & Rushed Photos because other duties called in the morning & I couldn't do everything before the light went this afternoon :x

I'll get the rest of Today done Tomorrow and post some much better pics, but here's a few quick snaps to be getting on with :D

First off, the products, all of which were presents from the family (or myself :P ) :

Every one of the BMW products smells amazing - washing the car has become a sensory experience all of a sudden  I took this picture because I'm a sucker for products that tell you they are working, like the mouthwash that scoops up gunk in your mouth, colours it and then shows you how much cr@p was between your teeth no matter how much you brush. This is what the wheelwash did to my wheels after 2 mins (winter wheels, courtesy of koolchris99  ) :

Next a couple of shots of my new black grilles, and the carbon bonnet badge that's been on a while now (latter courtesy of skillick  ) :

Side repeater, carbon (also courtesy of skillick  ) :

New tax disk holder from my wife for Christmas, not a facelift but has my summer wheels on :

And finally a rear-end shot, clear brake light (thanks TZ4  ) and carbon boot badge (skillick, again   ) :

I like the badges, been thinking of picking up black ones.

Where did you get them?

Clear brake light - one if the best most mods you can do - looking good!

-Agree think i will have to look into doing this in the new year :)

Looks great..... As my car looks so simlar you fancy doing mine after.... Could pretend its yours

Do you have any brighter pics of the front end? I am still tempted to wrap the chrome on my front kidneys.

I am still undecided about the clear 3rd brake light on a black car though...

Thanks for all the encouragement guys - just about to give her a polish then I'll take some better photos and post them later today, along with some answers to questions

Good work, Mr. Bing :) !

You've been busy in Christmas.
Carbon badges and carbon side repeaters look good especially in a black car (and white). So does the black mask.
I'm glad to say that I prefer the original red 3rd break light  . No really, it looks good now but the red one is just better :poke: . It's a must for a white, silver or a grey car but in black the red is the color. I changed the side repeater bulbs in silver vision, so no orange (check your picture, you see the orange).

Love your car  !

Cheers

I'm undecided on the 3rd brake light...

Like it on post face lift cars. But prefer red on pre face lift....

The E46 convertible has clear 3rd brake light, and it looks ok on black

I got the wheel caps from a chap on eBay for £20, though they needed some silicone to keep them in place ; body badges from skillick on here - he sent me the brochure from the guy who sold them to him (He does wheel caps too, and they probably work better than mine...), so if you PM me an email address I will send it over. Got all sorts of tempting bits in it, not just badges... He's UK-based, though I am sure he'd ship them

You have the z cleaning bug, noooooo turning back now you are hooked

I know, but I doubt I will ever be satisfied because I can't get the car in the garage (too much crap) so everything has to be done in daylight / decent weather :( ... New Years resolution - reorganise the garage and dump as much crap as possible so I can get the car in !

Umm, no ? ... And yes, better pics below from this afternoon :driving:

I wasn't sure either, but it's growing on me - I like the way it kind of mirrors the shape of the reversing lights. That said, I think this and the carbon badges are now demanding that I remove the 'Z4' to give it a cleaner look. But I don't want to do it then hate it

Yup, on the list, with silvered front indicator bulbs, LED sidelights and Osram Nightbreaker Plus headlight bulbs.

Thanks !

I got a good couple of hours today to finish off external cleaning with some Meguiers Ultimate Compound - hard work, and I suspect I should have polished & waxed it afterwards if I were a purist, but there's only so much time in the day... and of course I promised higher res daytime pics, so here they are :

(EDIT - changed to remove my number plate, replaced with my dream plate - childish, I know  but it looked rubbish with big blank bits of colour... )

I take back: In this picture the 3rd break light DO look good. Clean, fresh, done. Maybe someday I will change mine.... I really have to think this. Don't remove the 'Z4' but remove the '3.0 si' from the wings .
How you gonna change the front indicator orange look, 'cause it's not the bulbs that are orange?

I remember your earlier post that those private plates were very cheap :D ...

Cheers

Cheers Dice - pleased I have persuaded you about the brake light :P

I thought the bulbs on the facelift are orange ? I shall be removing one tomorrow to check...

:D as for the plate, you have a good memory... It's only £46.5k, so one decent lottery win and I'll be sorted

I remembered £43k, so my bad :) . No, it's not the bulbs, they are clear .
