LeatherZ - shipping to UK

Anyone from the UK bought products from Leatherz before?

If so, how long does delivery usually take, and did you get clobbered for import tax?

I cannot speak for LeatherZ but have been importing from the US for a decade for Jeeps and latterly the Zed.

It's luck of the draw if you get hit for import duty, but generally if the sender puts a nominal value on the package (and many will) or if it's sent by USPS (post office) then it escapes duty. Sent by Fed Ex or similar etc. you will get hit. Remember the duty is on the total costs of goods, US sales tax AND shipping

May I suggest a telephone not email order, so you can explain the import duty position

Delivery can be anything down to 24hours but expect less than a week door to door, although if the UK customs grab it don't be upset if it lays in a shed for 2 weeks. At 2:1 conversion these are the gambles.

Hope this helps

Thanks c10

I got hit when I imported my DICE last year but then when I ordered my intravee earlier this year I didn't. When ordering, you had to select USPS so hopefully I might be OK!

The parcelforce one I object to most, as they charge a huge admin fee which is not relating to the actual costs. Bit like the banking fees ...

Yep - stinks.

'Parcelforce Clearance fee' - WTF??? And they don't even attempt to deliver it.

Grrrr.

Yes, if you're gonna get clobbered for the tax you may as well ship FedEx to your house, rather than USPS/Parcelforce and pick up from 20 miles away. Last time, Parcelforce didn't even send a note saying they had the items :headbang:

Is the £34.60 all VAT? Surely a combination of VAT, and import duties on the total order including shipping costs. Must have been a substantial order total on the weighbill but still a really good overall deal with the weak Dollar.

Personally never had trouble with ParcelFarce. It's FedEx who are a bit cute and call me for payment of any duties before they deliver....

Was £21.10 VAT and £13.50 Parcelforce 'clearance' fees. Grr.

Order was $225.82 which came out at £113.94 as you say cos of weak dollar. So still under £150 for armrest and door pads. Not bad.

Although not sure I'll fit the door pads as it may look 'too much'

The clearence fee is a bit annoying and typical of the current vogue of companies levying anything extra they can onto the end customer

I looked at the armrest at the time I retrimmed the interior in red and decided against them as with door inserts and pads I think it would have been too much.

Shoudl be takers to sell on if you do decide against.

Well decided to go for it - still wasn't sure even when taken off the sticky covers.

Anyway, quite pleased with end result - doesn't look too much as I was fearing (and I think it looks better in real life than in the pic too).

But overall very pleased. Great service from Leatherz and excellently manufactured product. Given I paid £180 for a crappy armrest in the TT a few years ago, I'm well pleased with this. Won't be to everyone's taste but I like.

I do like the door rests though. Wonder how much just shipping those would be.

They were the ones I was unsure about but well pleased now they're on.

So nearly had a set for sale - but changed my mind!

:D

Damn - I almost convinced you to sell them then put in a bid for them... :)

Overall effect looks good to me on your car, wheras on mine with the silver interior dash & console it might have been too much

Parcel Force is the parcel division of the Royal Mail - our domestic postal services. Oft known as 'Parcel Farce' due to their inability to make simple on time deliveries without damage or loss......

I think I will buy them next time I am in the States to avoid the additional charges.

Oh - and ParcelForce is also the only courier that can never find my house ...

Have to say I've really warmed to them now they're on. Look good.

Where are LeatherZ based? I see on their front page it mentions LA Cincinnati & Seattle but can only find an Ohio address. I'm in LA in October so wouldn't mind looking them up and possibly buying some other bits.

Sorry - don't know where they are, but I would just have them ship whatever I would want to my hotel. At the moment, it is just the arm rests that I would like.
