I was curious what everyone in this forum does for a living.

I will start, I work in computer networking for large scale deployments of wireless for data collection, VOIP, and WiFi. One of the cooler projects I am involved with is the Google Books Library Project – An enhanced card catalog of the world's books which is to scan and make available all the books they wouldn't find any other way such as those that are out of print.

More info here : http://books.google.com/googlebooks/library.html

How about you?

Retail Logistics Management - Relatively new and rapidly growing Auto Parts retailer here in Canada - PartSource

wow, sounds like a pretty cool job, you have there!
I run a tv audience company in London England. Right now we are handling shows such as The Apprentice: You're Fired.
let me know if any London based members fancy coming along ;-)

I have a feeling 50% plus will be in IT, from comments I have seen in the past.

Myself IT Manager for precision engineering company http://www.hpcengineering.co.uk

Customers Include Aston Martin, Bentley, JCB, Caterpillar (CAT), and the other half of the business is the UK Distributor for Kaeser Air Compressors

After I graduated from the Air Force Academy, I flew F-18s. I applied for and was accepted as a mission specialist for two shuttle missions. After I left NASA, I moved to California and worked in the adult entertainment industry for a number of years as a male lead. After that I was taken away and put in the padded cell…Had you going didn’t I? :D

Really was a programmer, then systems programmer, then systems analyst, then project manager. I finally got to my highest level of incompetence and they made me a manger. :o I managed a very large computer center with over 60 employees and about 6 million dollars a year to play with.

I retired at 54 years if age and now just play around and get in my wife’s way, drive my Z and other cars, travel, and generally make a pest of myself.

As i live in the Oil capital of Europe it was inevitable i would be sucked into the OIl and Gas industry.

Subsea Operations Engineer, design subsea tree valves/strings to allow safe disconnect from live wells in an emergency, bad weather etc.

Supervisor CNC programmer/setter/operator. Making parts for Mercedes race engines, Mclaren and Honda F1 cars and as of tomorrow the Bugatti Veyron gearbox parts.

Mmm - some real interesting jobs.

Spent most of my life scaling the so called corporate ladder, working for US banking and finance houses, ending up as Group Operations Manager for Capital One, Europe.

A decade ago I got off the treadmill and now run my own company as an international Banking Consultant. Specialise in teaching banks how to help banks make more money (although I could do with some myself), strategy, credit cards portfolio growth and so on.

Interesting role that at times as it's taken me across much of the US, El Salvador, The Lebanon and pretty much most of Europe, but given me time to play with toys.

So why the hell do I mess with cars so much - well I am the son of a rocket engine designer (actually true) so wrenching, designing and makiing 'better' must have got into my blood at a young age....

(sapphire_nick would love to bring some of the family to one of the shows one day as ~i have a daughter who lives in London)

I am a Mississippi River ship Pilot.

I pilot any kind of ship that comes in the Mississipppi River.

Every port in the world has pilots. The pilot has all of the local knowledge.
They are the person who boards the ship and basically tells them were to go.

Now that is a kewl job and that has got to be one of the few job that has been around for what...150 plus years?

Computer Programmer/System Analyst for the biggest flight simulation company in the world. :P If it flies we simulate it. The fliers of most of the western world's air forces are more efficient killers because of our efforts. :o

Was a Java Developer (IT programmer), now an application engineer (haven't worked out what that means yet!). :D

I'm a graduate student in biomedical engineering; actually, I'm finishing up my Ph.D. in about 2 weeks. I guess I'll be looking for a real job pretty soon, since I sure as hell don't want to stay in academia.

In a sentence, my project involved the use of functional MRI to image changes in activity within the brain during certain types of learning and memory.

The Z4 was my graduation present to myself after seven years of this crap. :D

Retired US Navy and doing Aviation Electronics for a company with contracts to most major airlines. I work on all those funny little indicators in the cockpit,,,,needless to say, I won't fly anymore :P

Active Duty US Air Force Jet Engine Mechanic. I keep those fickle jet engines running smoothly so that AJ has a safe/smooth flight when he's borrowing the jet. :D
