Thought I would create build/blog/log to keep everthing in one place and also because I love reading through other peoples.
I'll pop a hello post in newbie forum and link here.
So had my car about 6 weeks now and finally got a week of work to start working on it.
As always thanks for all the useful info I got from the weeks of reading I did here before taking the plunge.
She a 54' 2.2 SE and the clock ticked 51k on the test drive
now onto the piccies.
The day I picked her up.

Thats my old car in the background looking more shiny than the new... something that must be corrected.
So take this:

and attack this

Bad swirly swirly however someone took the trouble to fit a nice spoiler for me..
and I did the stubby
I gave her a really thorough wash - TFR, tar and glue several rinces and was left with this mess on the bonnet.. dont even want to think what has happen here.

So a little clay bar action. Behind front wheels seemed to be the worst area.

Then took some of this:

about 5 hours later my shoulders hurt a lot.
Then took some of this the next day:

again several hours later shoulders hurt again.
Then paint was much much better.... Never going to get anywhere near 100% correction doing this by hand be could not justify buying a maching for one use, then to be chucked in the back of the garage.
On close inspection paint is still swirled a lot but take a couple of step back and you dont really notice. So that will do for now.
Now then time to make it gleem

Startimg to get somewhere when buffing off the polish:

So buffed and removed all traced of polish.. I find this part strangely therapeutic

Now some wax.. dont realise just how long bonnet is until the polish it
Some here

more here

and car ended up like this

I did not get round the fully washing again, wheels and all. So didn't take any final shots.. sorry...
Still thinking about a rear debadge awell but not sure.. hmmm
At this point I took a really good nights sleep much longer that the night before.
On to day three.
Clean roof drains.. Aukward and very annoying job... Drivers side seems clear and the passinger the plug/bung was full of 'soil' but did not seem the have blocked up fully.
Job needed doing so glad thats out the way.

Then the roof, I ued this

washed three times, treated once.

The weekend before I had done the interior. Everything hoovered, cleaned and treated included leather.. managed to pull this out of all the crevices but mainly in the air vents.

Oh and pedal rubber removed and cleaned

So 'things' and mods done:
Stubby
Turned off door auto lock
Rest Air bag light(twice) - bought cable and software from BM technic, very usefull and well worth the pennies
ZHP non illuminated
LED interior lights throughout
Stuff to do:
Refurb calipers - bought paint just need a nice day to it.
Refurb wheels... Dont like colour and they need doing anyway.(fancy a differnet set off wheels,so might just hold off on that for now)
Intravee/Dice/Aux - more research needed.
Dig out Photoshop and make myself a sig pic
Thanks for reading. hopefully more to follow soon...
