Very true, if you can get your money back then I'd take it on the chin and look for another one when you have your money back.

I've just bought a crashed z4m in a very similar state. Cat d. They will probably write it off and it will become someones pride and joy who can't afford the premium price tag! I just hope they give you what you paid.

Not sure exactly what formula they use but it's something like if the repair costs are predicted to exceed half the market value then it will be deemed beyond economical repair.

There is easily a few grand in the repair and more at BMW approved prices. Could be a close call.

Good luck. You could take a settlement buy back the car then repair it and pocket a grand.

^^ I agree. Theres always a profit to be made by buying the car back at around 20% even if you don't have the knowledge/connections to get it fixed. You should be able to sell it as it is for a lot more than what they charge to buy it back.

The damage on yours looks a lot lighter as well.

On the body yes. But mine had suspension damage too. Aswell as a broken brake disc!

If you don't mind answering, how much did you buy it for and how much to fix? I often think about doing that with a CatD car and keeping as a second car, maybe now's my chance with mine. Suppose the problem is it's hard to sell on but if I'm keeping it, maybe it doesn't matter. It's the economics that's hard to place.

Got the car for 6k and the discs are 117 each trade and the wishbones are about 60. I got lucky and got a pair of complete doors with mirrors for 50!! So theres a lot of profit to be made there. Not only that but the seller also gave me a complete boot lid with clear third brake light and wind deflector clipped in for free! The headlight in the pic cost 100 although I just won a doner hid headlight for a tenner which I will use to make a complete bixenon with the undamaged parts from the original. The wing was 120 brand new trade. The front bumper will easily repair and so will the rear quarter.
