Few Jobs Done today

First Job. I bought another Alpine KCA-420i to perform the single wire mod. Didn't want to bugger mine up. As you can see from the picture it's pretty small. Other than attaching the sinlge wire you also have to drill out a via using a 1-1.5mm drill just twisting through your fingers.

I've yet to test or fit this but the hard parts done.

Thie above mods wakes you iPod up after it's been left a day or two. Without this you have to physically go to the iPod and wake it up which is a PITA even though it's only in the centre console.

Job two. Fit the Strut Brace I bought last year. The car is already insured for it so need to be fitted. Although I didn't know it when I bought it, it's actually from an E46 CSL. The guy who sold it (on here) had it fitted to his ///M and I've seen the pictures. It fits the Z4 fine except for one small issue. The camber pin sits a bit too proud. So out with the dremel to shave a couple of mm off the top. Not sure the previous owner of the brace did this though as there are marks on the bottom where the camber pins touched.

Although in the pics it looks as it it's touching, I did the fag paper test to ensure all is OK.

Has all the nut covers and some nice ///M strut covers to. :D

And before you say it need a clean, it will have to wait until March when it's back on the road as I'm not putting a wet car back in the garage for 2 months. I always go for a drive when I've cleaned the bay to ensure it's 100% dry.

Third and final job of the day was to paint up one set of the grey roof covers I have. I used Acrylic Lacquer Matt Black from Screwfix with a few light coats. Masked the bottom and sprayed that also so looks like factory. Touch dry at present so can't show them in situ.

APC to clean and the Aerospace 303 to protect. Got some stuff to try and bring the Aluminium up, will do that when the cars back on the road.

Hi Srhutch, have you got more than one set of roof covers? If you have would you consider selling a set to me

I have, but the others not mine, I've got to paint them for the owner.

These have already doubled in value. If I ever did sell they would be described correctly though.

They were from a main dealer in Germany via eBay. Problem is getting them delivered.

Somebody owed PVR a favour and I managed to get him to get me a set. Hence why I have to paint his.

I really don't know why they won't ship to the UK. Probably some BMW agreement they have to stick to.

Tell me more about the brace? When I've looked before I was told that the E46 one doesn't fit. Was that purely as a result of the camber pin opr something mire serious!

Very nice job sir! I still need to meet up with you and binglesby soon!

I've missed tinkering with cars over winter :driving:

Can only be the camber pin, everything else fitted spot on.
