Thought you folks might be interested in a road trip I've been on for the last 2 weeks. My first big trip in the M.
Here goes, hope you enjoy
The plan this year was to have a look at the central/southern region of France, somewhere we had not seen much of in the past, then on down to the French Riviera. From here we would head north into Italy, then Switzerland, and back into France for a couple of days before heading home. I had also tried to make this a more leisurely (maybe not the right word here) trip by staying for 2 nights in most places, and reducing the total mileage from the 4000 miles we usually clock up. As usual we're always on the lookout for car related stuff en-route
After speaking to a few people about the best route from the NW down to the chunnel I decided to take the M6 toll, M42, M40 route. It worked out really well and despite heavy rain for most of the 300 mile trip we arrived at hotel in Ashford at 23:45, the trip taking us 5hrs plus a 30min break at the services.
Day 1 - Calais to Magny Cours - 411 miles
We left the hotel for the short drive to the chunnel to catch the 9am train

As has become tradition now we stop a the old Reims circuit for lunch.

As we're travelling south on the A26 we are passed by a group of about 12 Lotus Elise, Exige VX220's. The all have a Stelvio 2008 tour sticker on the side. We convoyed with them for about half an hour which was great fun and broke up the monotony of the trip. Unfortunately our camera was in the boot so we have no pics, but thought some of you folks might know about the trip? We left them at Troyes southwest for Nevers.
After a long day and over 700 miles in 24hrs we arrive at our hotel which was located right next to the F1 GP circuit at Magny Cours
