David's 3.0si Sport - Beatrice!

Hi All!

I thought it was long overdue that I introduce myself on here - after all the annoying 'bumps' of my wtb hardtop thread.

I'm David (obviously), and a few months back I picked up a lovely Z4 3.0si Sport (obviously!) :)

I was in the market for a Z4C, but as soon as the sun started to show it's face again, I realised just how much I was missing the drop-top of my old Z3 (Scarlett - a rather 'individual' looking specimen! Project thread: https://zroadster.org/threads/david-scarletts-project-thread.8108/ )

I bought Beatrice with 24k on the clock, and that has now already risen to 26k, as she is my DD (hence why I'm looking for a HT).

Here's a pic, as is, when I bought her:

I ordered a ZHP gearknob, which arrived the day before I collected her. This came along with me when I collected the car, and was fitted immediately!

In the first week of ownership, the passenger window regulator went kerrrrghhhrchhhccchhggghhh and therefore needed replacing.

Also in the first week of ownership, I bought and fitted new alloys and rubber all round. (What I like to call) 'David Logic' told me that because the previous owner had fitted mismatched tyres on front/back - instead of replacing just the tyres, I should buy ALL NEW EVERYTHING!! :D

...'David Logic' is great at times like that, and can often justify ANY extra expense.

Here's a pic when fitted with the new wheels and rubber (3SDM 18x8.5/9.5 and Dunlop SportMaxx):

Next was the Scoop-that-must-not-be-named replica:

...And a set of Machine Monkey's tips as I'm still undecided about whether to go for a SS exhaust system:

Finally (for now), I purchased my first private registration to fit to Beatrice (DSR are my intials), and the (road legal!) pressed metal plates are a lovely finishing touch:

That's it for now I think, hopefully see you around!

Welcome to the forum! A lovely zed and a great engine. Nice mod list so far unfortunately though it's never ending and you'll be using "David logic" many more times!

Nice zed David, that plate is indeed a nice touch

Thanks Stuart, the pressed metal plates are from eBay - this is the exact listing I bought from:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PAIR-GB-E...936886?hash=item43e1f805f6:g:lfgAAOSw9eVXW9un

I made sure to find a seller who would put the British Standard mark and their postcode on. I simply had to email a scan of the front page of my V5 and an ID to them. Having the BS mark should hopefully avoid any complications with uninformed/ignorant policemen, looking for a quick £.

See you are fairly local, keep an eye out for the next Sussex/Kent run if you are interested.

See you went for the Lightning McQueen effect on you old zed. What have you got lined up for this one?

HAHA, you're not wrong there! It was an itch I had to scratch. It was done more as a method to tie in the white hardtop, but I did end up loving it.

I definitely don't have any plans to make this one as 'individual' as the last. (I re-dyed the whole interior on my last zed)
I see this one as more of an OEM+ car.

I want a hardtop, possible SS exhaust system (although I'm not sure I want to deal with the drone), and if I leave my current job I will lower the car on Eibach Pro's.

If the car goes any lower currently, it won't make it into the car park.
...If that's not an excuse to quit, I don't know what is!? :driving:

Welcome - that's a nice looking Zed

Just one thing...

Beatrice?

BEATRICE???? :erm: :scratchhead:

I did notice the seats, thought they looked unusual.

Haha, or Bee for short (and most likely the only thing it'll get called other than 'that car').

Welcome to the forum.

Lovely looking car you have there, and I really like those wheels!

I know I have a Coupe and stand up for them at every opportunity, but it I had somewhere to store it when not in use a hardtop and a Roadster might be the best of all worlds!

My latest had a stainless centre and rear section and I don't have a problem with drone, it quietens down when I am cruising but sounds much better when I' in a hurry! Sadly I don't know the brand as it was on the car when I got it!

I'm glad mine has it, but as a quick heads-up my "High Street" broker told me that having one made it a modified car and he couldn't get any sensible insurance quotes for it, but Chris Knott who do the forum scheme had no trouble sorting that for me at a sensible price.

Thanks Guys!

Mr Tidy - thankfully I'm already insured by Adrian Flux!

NeilP - Got to be honest, I wasn't keen on the yellow at first, but now I love it!

enzed4 - Just trying to catch up!! :D
