Broken Spring - SE same as Sport?
Hi, new owner here.
Cleaning my drain holes today, whilst the wheel was off noticed the rear spring is broken. I know I need to replace both but do the Se and Sport versions have different springs on the rear? (I have an SE). Not sure why the image keeps getting inverted.
I've been on ECP and found this produce code 627112790 when I type my reg in, however when I type in the reg of a Sport version it provides the same product code.
I want to keep it SE.
Any advice please? By the way, very useful and active forum!

Sport springs are slightly lower 11-15mm I think than the se springs. Suplex do the 2 sets and are oe spec.

Some say change in pairs i don't believe that to be necessary & pretty sure if your car was under AUC warranty they would only replace the broken one ?
You probably need to offer up more info on model + year as the facelift Se & Sport springs are different but some previous 3.0Se were on sport spec springs i believe

Spec is 2004, 3.0 SE, manual. Last 7 digits of VIN are LS83268
This says i have M-Sports suspension !! I thought I bought an SE and assumed it had SE suspension, doh!!. However I have replaced the 18's with 17's and normal tyres and the ride is fine.
Is is just the springs that are different for SE and Sport or is it shocks as well?
Cheers guys.

The last time I looked the spring from ECP is for an SE and makes your sport model sit higher. I know this because I went through the process of having one fitted on my previous Z then having to remove it and go to BMW to buy the correct spring.

That's correct, ECP haven't sold an M Sport spring for a long time.
However, why get more BMW springs for more money that fail early when you can get Suplex. They are made in Germany and I paid about £23 each for them. You need to call Suplex to find a local dealer if Google doesn't work.

Don't guess on the springs. Although 3.0's comes standard in sport some were fitted as an option on softer and taller springs. Check your build spec.csquire4 wrote:Spec is 2004, 3.0 SE, manual. Last 7 digits of VIN are LS83268

I also would only replace one as BMW do, unless you are going to another make or spec.in which case a pair or in the case of any height adjustment a full set.

I didn't realise sports suspension was standard on all 3.0. I won't be using BMW springs as they don't seem that durable (anyone know who makes them for BMW)? so I'll need to get 2 new ones, I've not even checked the other side to see if it is intact.

I don't know where you are but I got mine from Spartan Motor Factors in Avonmouth, Bristol. Could see if they'll post you some as I paid that for two...

You got a great price. I'm in Essex.
Just looked at their web-site, doesn't look like they do delivery but might give them a call tomorrow.

So, do these suplex springs just match the M-sport for drop then? I was thinking about Eibach but as they'll lower again, I think my front would be wrecked in no time ( and my nerves!!)
I think i'll go the Suplex ( m-sport equiv) route if that's the case.
P.S, I think the price differences mentioned earlier was one was the price of fronts( cheaper) and the dearer rear coils.
