B&Q trolley jack

Does anyone know if any of the B&Q trolley jacks are low profile enough to be used on the Zed?

Don't want to pay a fortune for summit I will only use twice a year, so don't want to spend too much if poss.
 
Not sure about the B&Q one - But i bought the following earlier in the year and have used countless times without any issues

Or keep a couple of shortish lengths of plank to drive onto - raises the car enough to get a "normal" small trolley jack under

Nope - they're not low enough. Thought I'd chance it when I had to change my brake pads earlier in the year. Glad I returned it tbh, it didn't 'look' as though it was as good quality compared the one I bought from Amazon in the end... (for similar money)

I was in a simlar vote and picked up one of these from Machiene Mart it did the job.

If I was using it alot id want a better quality one but for the odd ocassions I need to use it, it does the job.

No idea... seems it has a "Carry box for easy storage" but not sure what that is. I don't really mind though, will find somewhere to sling it in the garage anyway.
 
B&Q one was £20, did the job perfectly, fit under no probs when i had oem wheels on, had to use a plank of wood when i went round to do the drivers side as the tyres on the new wheels were a bit bigger but cant complain for £20

No worries, I was pleasantly surprised when mine turned up, it looks/feels better in the metal than it does on those pics! :)

The case seems to be of pretty good quality black moulded plastic, I've found it to be 'man enough' for the job of holding the jack and handle in place.
 
just out of interest - what are you planning on doing? routine maintenance work, or mods? :wink:

Just want to put on my winter wheels.... that and I am tidying up the garage and having a trolley jack makes the garage look more manly :)
 
Oh, to have a garage... the next home will have one, it's a necessity!

To have a decent trolley jack is great, if not just as much of a necessity. When I was changing my brakes, I initially had a go with a scissor jack that I had left over from a previous car, with a view to popping the car on axle stands. The jack started to 'flex' 5 seconds into winding it up - at which point I decided that it'd be a really poor idea to continue! That jack promptly ended up in the recycling bin. I have no idea how it held the old car up when I replaced a flat tyre on it...
 
Just received the jack... I never knew the reason it's called a 2-tonne trolley jack was because that's what the blimmin thing weighs?!!! Looks good though, and the case it comes in looks solid enough :thumbsup:
