Edited posts

Recently I have read a few posts and went back and read them again later and they have been quite different to what was originally said.
There is no mention on the post that it has been edited so I thought maybe I was mistaken.
I take it some members are able to edit their posts without it showing that it has been edited?

It will say in tiny writing at the bottom that it has been edited and when unless it is edited within a very short time of posting, then it doesn't show it's been edited.

I didn't think there was a time limit but that a post only shows that it's been edited if there are subsequent posts - but I may be wrong on that....

...but the mods can edit anything and I don't think it shows up...

** Just a quick edit **

Anyone can edit their own posts. Mods can of course change anything on posts, but don't without good cause (language, insults, etc.).

Most people edit their posts for clarity, but agree that when folks go back in and change the meaning without explanation then it's frustrating that following posts don't make sense or looks like the responder misread the original, or is now wrong with what was a correct reply.

Thankfully given the number of posts it's not too much of an issue, but if something concerns just flag it to the mods.

There has definately been changes in a few posts but there is nothing at the bottom of the post to say it has been edited on a few.
One is Ninavarnas post where by mistake it read originally E84/85 but has been changed to E85/86.
There is no mention in the post that it had been edited.
There is another that I read that has been changed but no mention of it being edited.
I dont want to say what it was as the member may not want it shared.
I just thought maybe mods or long term members who edited their posts it didnt show.

I've just been back and changed mine - it logs it at the bottom

Thats what I mean though, not everybodys seems to show that its been edited. Just look at Ninavarnas post in the E85 section.

Other forums put a time limit on the ability to edit ones own post. 1/2 hour seems reasonable. Possible for Admin to amend here? :| Just a thought.

>>edited<< :)

Does not show edit if noone has posted after yours though.

Now edited

One of the mods edited it. If a mod puts a reason for editing a post in, it shows that it has been edited, otherwise it doesn't show.

It definitely doesn't say edited if you do it pretty much straight away.
Doesn't seem to matter how long after as long as it's the last post in the thread - I've just edited the final post in this thread which I made on 9 Aug 2013 and it doesn't say it's been edited...

Well... if you look at the post, I put the date and time of the edit...

t123002.gif...although I could be prescient, foresaw this thread and put in that line when I originally wrote the post....

I think I know what you are saying, if you post something and edit it before anybody else has posted after you it will not show as being edited.
That sounds right but is not the case for the post of Ninarvanas which was edited after someone pointed out the mistake.
Its in this thread http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=71096

Look at the post on the previous page - WonderMike said that one of the mods edited it
