Finally, I'm back with pics...

Once again here’s another story, ….

In the beginning, and viewing all the beautiful pictures of the many cars on these forums, I decided that I wanted to attempt to take good pictures as well, so I went ahead and purchased a 10.1 mp/Canon Rebel XTi.

After reading the manual and experimenting with the camera, I realized that I am a better civil engineer, than a photographic artist, which explains why I have not yet posted any pictures. Let’s put it this way, there is no such thing as “point and shoot”, and the pictures did not come out the way I thought they would. I lack the experience to set the proper aperture settings, subject position, lighting, etc., etc. At the moment, there is no doubt that I have no photo skills whatsoever.

As for my son, and his knowledge of my recent Xti purchase, he recently borrowed the camera to take pictures of his Lotus Elise. When he later showed me his Elise pictures, as for me personally, I was very much impressed with the results. Moreover, I did not realize the potential of this camera.

Consequently, I bartered and bribed my son to buying him lunch for a week to assist me to taking pictures of my Z4. So, after a few days, and out of the blue last night, my son calls me and tells me to get ready and to go on a “photo shoot”…. As I was leaving the house, my wife had a grin on her face knowing that I was going to put this bought camera to use.

What’s hilarious is that during the photo shoot, I guess that I was asking too many questions as a father would, so I was kindly told by my son to stand to the side and not to comment. Basically I stood there and twiddle my thumbs for over an hour, and when I got home, I realized that he still had my camera… LOL.

Anyways, here are the pictures of my Z4. :D Hopefully I will have time later this evening, and I will post my vehicle’s modest specs…

I'm definitely impressed! Your son is an excellent photographer.

I told my son of your positve comments, and he smiled :D ....So, you think I should give him the family discount and sell him my camera?

Well, the camera would definitely be in good hands. Those are excellent quality shots using just ambient lighting.

I'm certainly not a good photographer but as a casual observer I like the first pic the best. Your car color really looks great against the concrete. I would, however, photoshop out the "E1" - I think it's a bit distracting. Do that and I think you've got a winner!

PS If you can't do it I would be willing to give it a try (pm me).

Fantastic, tell your son he has skills. I know a professional automotive photographer, http://www.rochephoto.com, check it out, he makes a terrific living. He has the Bentley account and did the photo shoot for the Transformers movie if that tells you anything. Encourage your son to keep it up and lets see some lotus pics, please.

I am sure he will be happy to hear of the compliments, and I will mention to him to the possible opportunities and exposure of his present-day photo skills. Currently, he is employed under me as my Assistant Civil Engineer and Water Pollution Control Program Manager; however, I do keep him very busy. Not to mention he is also a 2nd LT XO, in the Army Reserve (proud parent speaking). Nevertheless, I know that exotic cars are his passion and photography is his hobby…

Anyways, here are pictures of his Lotus Elise, and you’ll notice that the background location is the same as mine and in his photos. I had mentioned to him that I had really marveled at the shots and desired the same effect for my Z4…

Very cool...How does that thing ride? I have heard that they handle like they are on rails but very harsh for a daily driver, Sexy car none the less. Congrats on raising a cool kid.

Congratulations on raising a fine son  He does very well with the photography and could possibly earn a few dollars on the side to help pay for the gas in his other addiction :D

The car does ride hard, but handles extremely well. Yeah, you can feel a small pebble on the road, and because of the harsh ride, he got an S2000 for his daily driver.

Anyways, one time my son had taken me to an area down here in San Diego called Julian, and the route up to the town had very many switchbacks. I honestly have to say, at the +speeds that he was driving, the Elise on very tight turns was practically "glued" to the ground. Believe me, my blood pressure and heart rate must have been off the scale :o ...It also seemed like he enjoyed scaring the Sh#%, out of me.

From what I know of his car, he had modified the suspension to Sachs Single Adjustable Coilovers. Also, for me, always getting in and out of his car was a B#$tch.

All in all, driving through twisty roads was fun, and my son and I plan to go back up to Julian, and I plan on driving my Z4, following him casually and cautiously... :driving: LOL

Also, Thanks for the compliments with my son, so far he's been a good young man  ...
