Went for a drive tonight, armed with new camera to test my urban photography. Took a few of the motor!

The ones I can see look great!
Had to change from photobox to imageshack so all should be back now.

Ha ha - yeah cows now very urban....

Have not loaded the full sizes (took on a 12mp camera) due to not wanting to overload!

Ooh, that last one is very nice
I just wish your blur on the plates was confined to the number plate.

I never knew sheffield was so abandoned, it looks like a post apocalyptic wasteland. (well that last bit I probably already knew :P )

Yeah I made a bit of a mess with the blurring. Might edit tomorrow.

There's a lot of abandoned wasteland in Sheffield, although a lot of redevelopment is ongoing. I've always seen it as an eyesore, but now see it as something that looks good in pictures.

Most of the pics were taken just by meadowhall, under the viaduct. The one under the bridge was a bit creepy - a big pile of tyres in a dark tunnel and I'm sure I kept hearing voices. And it was only 8pm, so shouldn't have been freaky!

A post nuclear bomb film was made in Sheffield in the 80's (Threads) and the place hasn't changed that much in certain areas!

Awesome pics they are, I never realised you could get so close to the cooling towers

What a great film, I got it on DVD a few years back , just to watch it again, I was only 9 or 10 first time around.

Did you smell any pee while you were down there?
:D

It did stink to be honest. Altho very 'eggy'. I then realised I was parked by a drainage factory

Very Nice Pics...

So tell us about the new camera... :camera:
Cheers

I bought a Canon 450D DSLR a month or two ago. Just starting to play around with it a bit. Great piece of kit to be honest. I'm new to DSLR's and this is really easy to use.

Yeah I wasn't sure myself if you could actually get there and I'm really pleased I managed to. Really chuffed with some of the pics I took. Was gonna have some professional ones done (by Deansphoto who goes on the TT forum) but probably not bother now, although would like one of the driving shots.

Threads was a great but scary film. Remember watching it at shool and being petrified just because it was in my town. The shot of the young lass on fargate who p's herself was awful.

Still haunting watching after all this time. But when it came out, the nuclear threat was constantly on the news so it hit home more back then.

Here's another one I took today at Derwent Valley

Camera looks to be a good 'un, I just got a Nikon D40 from Amazon but hardly used it yet.

Dean's pics are amazing, even the static ones, you'll have to have a photoshoot before you sell the ///M, so you've got a bit of time.

I was going to get the D40 myself, but managed to find a 3 week old 450d on ebay from a trusted seller with extras for over £100 off the best web price so went for that. I'm the same, have hardly used mine but bought it mainly for my holiday later this year. And when I do use it, I've been pleased with the results

Yeah some of the pics Dean has done have been fantastic. And to be honest, for what he charges, he can't be faulted at all.

Thanks Sandman - Yeah gonna put my favourite one in (the last one).

Just found out the cooling towers are being demolished in 3 weeks too (bank holiday Sunday). Glad I managed to get these taken before then
