First mini road trip in my 35i

Been off work for a couple of days to take a road trip into Wales. Had a blip so had to return home (see the problems pages) otherwise the plan was to B&B it overnight Monday, but resumed yesterday. Went round the Ellan Valley and on to Aberystwyth Monday and Aberdify yesterday. About 550 miles in total.
I have been on this route in my 3.0si. Main differences are the way it pulls out of corners is impressive and the handling is so much more planted! It really inspired confidence! The way they have the suspension set for this car in "sport" mode is fantastic for fast road driving! I hit a brilliant stretch of twisty road yesterday and must have had it to myself for around 30 miles!! Fantastic! :driving:

A lot less concentration needed to drive this Z4 fast compared to my previous one. You can keep great cross country pace with little effort and when I got home last night late from driving all day, I felt fine!

Managed to drive both days with the roof down also! :D

Very nice and glad the car seems to be settling in and yuo speak so highly of it.

The coastal photos look like the road South out of Aberystwyth? I used to drive that every few months in the Jeeps getting to Llangranog. Fantastic views

Yes, that's the road. No real roads planned on the trip, just kept driving till time to go home then let the sat nav get me there! :)

During the 2 days I had many people give me positive comments on the car including 2 petrol station attendants. One woman called it gorgeous (I think she meant the car! :P )! Many didn't know what model BMW it was as I have no Z4 badge now.

On one nice twisty stretch of road I had a slight run-in with a fairly new model SL500 Merc. I came up behind him and we overtook a couple of cars and he slowly started speeding up! To be honest, in the end, he was getting in my way! :P Sounded nice though!

That was another thing I liked about my 35i during this trip. Driving in the Ellan Valley near the dams the sound bouncing off the walls with the roof down was great! Sounded like a V8!. It's getting a nice burble sound to it now also with a few little pops on the over-run! 8)

Great thing is on the motorway later it felt just like my old coupé with the roof up.

I've bought myself a furry hat for roof down driving in the winter!! :P

Comparison pic again with my previous Z4. Just found a pic of them both on the same road! I thought I had taken a similar one of my Coupe! :P

Nice pictures :). Looking at the new Z again and it doesn't look terribly different from the old one....parts have changed but I'm glad they kept the overall body shape :)

hahah, how do you like it debadged? Makes it fun to know people try to figure out what it is :P
