Maldives Clear Lights - DONE!

Hello.

Did this mod over last weekend - couldn't be happier with the outcome.

Few bits to highlight on from Peddys EXCELLENT post describing how to do it:

* Remember to take the indicator bulbs out before attempting to remove the silver inners... and
* Don't silicone the thing on before shaking the recently assembled light to make sure there are no more black rubbery bits ready to appear in the lense!

I think especially in Maldives - the orange is horrible and looks a million times better without. Anyone thinking of doing it, do it!!

Oh, and my plate is on too :)

They new headlights then? Where did you find them if they are? :)

Looks miles better

Thanks - makes a huge difference I think. I should also give full credit to my Dad who is a genius at these things - I am merely the assistant!!

Yep, clear all round now - joined the knackered spring club though which determines my next challenge. Although I'll be adding a ZHP at the same time.

Not new lights no, I got two prefacelift clears on ebay for £200 and got cracking!

Also, wanted to ask - I'm not too bothered about the M steering wheel but I'd like something thicker than the original - any other options?

Looks great.

The facelift Sport wheel without the coloured stitching is still your best bet for a thicker wheel.

they were available on 2005 cars briefly before the 2006 facelift... makes them as rare as hens teeth though :(

OP - looks great :D

How are they not new lights then? If you got new clear ones, surely you would just swap them over :? Bit confused

Very nice - and very tempting as a potential mod for my Maldives Zed ;)
Shame it's not a cheap one!

Sorry, meant not new as in they were rescued from another car not bought at full whack from BMW.

I actually found a couple from a German import which the guy needed to convert to uk spec. Also, they had black inserts and halogens, I wanted my silver xenons as they were, just clear.

Anyway, even if I'd been lucky and found them - where's the fun in a straight swap?!?

neilrjones, Lights look great!
CJ definitely needs credit here too (or he'll start crying like a little girl :poke: :P ) as he was the one I bugged for a whole load of info and is the founder!

cj10jeeper, Was I the 2nd person to attempt this mod then?

Credit to CJ then!! I think it's the most impactful visual mod you can do - I like Bangle's work but why he felt orange indicators were the way forward I will never understand.

Peddy, did you not do this on an X5 first? If I am making this up I need more fresh air...

Ah b*llocks... Peddy, you're quite right - I have been unjust in my praise! Your signature confused my tiny brain.

CJ, YOOOOU are the genius - thank you.
